FIFA also announced the team of the year for 2012:

Casillas
Alves, Ramos, Pique, Marcelo
Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta
Falcao, Messi, Ronaldo

Source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...h-consecutive-Fifa-Ballon-dOr-in-Zurich..html

There's something interesting about that team but I can't seem to put my finger on it. Maybe Wireman can help?

That not one player who played in the Champs league final made it?

That not one player from a dominant Juventus team is in it?

That not one player from the Italian team who finished as runners up in the Euros is in it?

That Pique made it despite missing 5 months of the year through injury?

Yup there is something interesting about it. Its 100% pure nonsense... ;-)

Two good teams, and a cr*ppy league.
If it's a two-horse, crappy league, what does it say about the PL when the European champion is thrashed 4-1 by Atletico? And what does it say when a forward from a 'crappy' La Liga club in the suburbs of Madrid, is currently among the PL's leading goalscorers?

Why do you think you get the EPL on your telly in Aus?
Because it's from an English-speaking country. I.e. for the same reason that no-one gives a stuff about the PL in Central and South America - language.

Michu, solid performer in the weak La Liga, goes to England and treats these tough, hardened EPL defences with absolute disdain

You know he plays for Swansea don't you. That means you have a player good enough to "treat defences with disdain" playing for a lower placed team.

Hence its a better a league because there is more quality that goes deeper.

I like the idea that you only watch the EPL because they speak the same language.

Its football, not poetry recital. A complex makes you say the strangest thing...

Doesn't answer the questions over the ridiculous team of the year though.

The guy had one season in La Liga and the rest in the 2nd/3rd/4th divisions and he's torn up the PL

And also, if it's such a weak league, why have all the recent major PL signings come from clubs outside the big 2 - i.e. the "crappy" teams?

I'm talking Torres, Mata, Cazorla, Michu and Falcao in the future.

You forgot Silva and Aguero as well, also Yaya Toure, the driving force in the Man City midfield was a bench warmer at Barca.

Having individual talents in the lower teams doesn't mean the teams as a whole are any good.

4th place in Spain would be about 10-12th in the PL.

You moron.
How would Arsenal do against Atletico?
Hint: Arsenal would be torn to shreds.

Because the tax breaks combined with the overwhelming revenue streams of the top two clubs due to a lopsided TV deal allow them to pay enormous amounts to their players so it's generally not favourable to them to leave?

Atletico are coming 2nd. I said 4th in Spain would belong in the mid table in the PL.

I'd back us any day of the week to take on Malaga or Real Betis or Levante.

Yeah, what happened to La Liga being a two horse race? Your point was stupid, as are you.

Sure. Good luck with that.
