2012

Lets face it, we'll lose a tonne of people for next year

We're going to need some new, capable players to replace them, be they juniors or outsiders.

Problem areas:
Fullback - Will Mullaney or Meaney get the job full time, or will we sign someone?
Wing - we need speed on the wings, desperately
Halfback - Miller to be permanent in 2012?
Props - very light on in experienced players and depth
Hooker - any depth at all?
Back rowers - depth and quality is pretty good

Is there anyone on the market who we should chase/are chasing, other than Blair?

WT will be a blank slate with a small but effective core of experienced players retained.

Ayshford, Ellis, Dwyer, Farah, Galloway, Lawrence, Marshall, & Woods.

Question mark over which of the 3 halfback options is retained but I reckon Miller would have to be a good prospect. Lui and Moltzen have gone backwards.

Plenty of opportunity in 2012 for up and comers from lower grades Balmain & Wests plus a few selected choices from outside the club.

Seems that the club (Humphrey's?) has finally made the decision that we have been loyal and kept the same nucleous together for some 5 years and they have neither developed further. Time for a cleanout. Sheens can consider himself very, very lucky to survive and extend his contract I'd say.

It is a pro-active move based on a failure to win the big one. Probably helped by the fact our CEO is also an ex player.

A core of players as described above is a great start, the envy of many clubs. Build upon that with our youth and there is a competitive team.

Jake Mullaney needs to come up from the NSW Cup to play fullback, he was explosive in the U20's however it hasn't happened. He is a great young player, and if not brought up he will be brought by another club or forgotten about in the NSW cup.

I hate the fact that he is going to play Blair at Prop. Id rather start Woods there and move fulton to bench.

Fulton won't start at Lock, if he's even here.

Wouldn't mind seeing Blair at Lock

Yeah what have we got in Under 20's and state cup.. Anything likely to push the top 25? or doe we need to go out and buy a $150k prop?

Galloway
Woods
BMM (Is prop his best spot?)
Groat
Blair

Needs one more quality and one honest toiler..

Ben Ross? Greenfield? Tim Grant? Ashton Sims? Fa'aoso? Masoe?

Not much out there..

Begovich is the captain of the 20's,he is a good prospect, must be rated by Sheens as he has lost 3 props already.

Galloway and Woods are quality. Groat and Begovich come with big wraps but are untested - we really should be thinking about getting them some FG game time if they figure in our plans for next year. BMM & Blair are both better suited to the edges but can play in tight if required. Ellis does a lot of work for us in tight as well (probably too much tbh).

If Groat and Begovich can become even just average first graders then we probably need 1 or 2 more props for depth in case of injuries, but don't really need to worry about breaking the bank for them.

We need a fullback, desperately, and one more class winger. If Dwyer can kick on then we'll still have a quality back-row and our hooker & halves are set.

Has Alan Schirnack left or do Tigers fans simply not rate him? I thought he wasn't bad in his appearances this season, and particularly with prop shortages he would be more in the mix.
