2014 Four Nations..

Supposed to be held in the Southern Hemisphere - Australia and NZ I would presume..

No major tournament in 2012 and the 2013WC the following year..

When will the 4th team be decided..??

I would just take the 4 WC semi-finalists, to me this is the most accurate way of picking the top 4. Even if Wales or France are in the top 4...

As for the 4th nation Im not sure how they'll work that out. When it was first used in 2009, regardless France was always going to be 4th nation based on rankings.

So I dont know whether they will base it on rankings or the highest ranked in the World Cup, cause France finished below Ireland in the 2008 WC.

Put Wales or France in and then confirm that the 4 Pacific Teams will play curtain raisers for the Pacific Cup. Then, when 4N goes north in 4015, the Pac Cup serves as the qualifier for the 2016 4N down south (if they have one).

This way we might get players actually committing to Pac teams for more than 5 minutes.

That's a pretty good idea..

Given Melbourne's previous Rep match will be the upcoming 2012 SOO, then I think they probably need a Test for 2014, but yeah, definitely a Ausgrid Test after Newcastle's fantastic turnout on Oct 16..

From what I remember reading I believe the intent would be to have the top ranked island team from the World Cup be invited. They don't necessarily have to come 4th overall.

Again though - this is why I think the year after world cup should be reserved for a GB-NZ-AUS tri nations. Whilst that's going on, the Pac Cup or Euro Cup qualifiers could be happening.

From information I have gleaned on this site, I thought the Four Nations was owned and operated by Australia, New Zealand and England. So won't it be up to those three nations to decide who gets in?

Why can't we just have a Pacific Cup in 2012 with the winners qualifying for the 4N? Two birds with one stone giving Pacific teams vital gametime leading into the WC and finding the fourth team. I thought this was supposed to be the idea behind selecting the fourth nation i.e European Cup winner from the previous season when the 4N is played in the NH and the PC winner from the previous season when it's a SH comp.
