It happens in the US with the NFL but I am not sure it could here. For one thing you would have to have sold out games, of which we get very few here. Secondly you could only on-sell season tickets that have all allocated seat, not the general admittance season tickets that many fans have.

Happens here in Perth for the afl clubs but again it is due to all games selling out. I like the storms system where you can use your 12 tickets however you like so if you don't go one week you can take a mate the next game and use the unused ticket.

That seems like a really strong split.

Will be interesting to see if they implement a sell on program next season where season ticket holders can sell their seat for games they can't make.

It's not really an issue any NRL club has had to deal with thus far, would be interesting to see how they do it.

The WSW have this scheme starting this year..........................funny that a club 2 years old has a great buy back scheme before a club that has been part of Pirtek for a very long time.

Buy back systems benefits the club and the fans, how this was not implemented before WSW is beyond me.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to sell on GA seats? If anything surely they'd be the easier seats to move on IMO.

The reason is the Wanderers membership hit critical mass for the stadium. To say that it was some brilliant forward thinking move is not true. They actually cost themselves (and the stadium and caterers etc) a bucketload of money last season because they sold that many memberships without a buy back scheme and ended up with 13000 crowds for most of their games because so many of the members just signed up so they could go to the marquee games. This system is entirely reactionary.

All clubs should introduce one even if they're nowhere near filling the stadium with members. If they prioritise selling your ticket to casuals then you can pick up those people who are concerned about not getting to all the games into full membership. Reduce the risk of not being able to get value out of purchasing membership and it's a more attractive proposition.

Sorry it sounds as if your agreeing with me...................i say it again, how the WSW started a buy back system before Parra and many other clubs is beyond me.
I am not really concerned at why WSW brought in the buy back system i am more concerned that a club 2 years in existence put in a scheme that other clubs with 50+ years head start could not.
A club that has been around for 2 years had more foresight then clubs with 50+ years head start, for me that is a worry.

NRL teams actually struggle to post out season ticket cards in the mail to members before round 1

Imagine buy back programs.

Would be a balls up guaranteed

Membership is something i'd like to see centralised by the ARLC just to end shit like this...

Obviously teams would set their own prices and the ARLC just take a bit off the top to cover expences, but a centralised (professional) group dealing with every team (rather than random secretaries from each club working individually) would be by far the best option.

Have to laugh at some of the so called passionate Bulldogs supporters currently asking for AAN's over at The Kennel website.

FFS, support your club and buy a ticketed membership and you won't have this problem.

You are correct on all accounts.
The Wanderers were forced into implementing such a scheme because so many fans demanded it when seeing such low crowded sell outs, which as you say, were caused by members buying season tickets just so they could attend the BIG matches. Lame, I know, but it happens.
This upcoming season, they have already sold 15877 season tickets, and have yet to open season tickets up to those on the waiting list,
so they will easily reach their cap again. That cap is about 16500 (leaving tickets available for away supporters and match day/week sales).
Hopefully the buy back scheme sees bigger crowds this season.
Stats show that only about 70-75% of season ticket holders actually turn up to every game for most sports in Oz. There are however, exceptions.

Ive bee reliably informed that this is a Ticketek issue.

Where a team plays at a ticketmaster venue - eg Parra

or They use the Ticketmaster database system - eg Souths - it is much easier to implement a buy back system
