Yeah Vic I knew that and I also knew Mitchell to his credit wanted to make it on his own and not on the coat tail of his famous dad.

I am more saying just because a father played for a team there is no real loyalty expected so therefore the same may apply to the Sironens if the Manly rumour is true and if big dollars are waved their way...I certainly hope they do remain with us as I really think they do have a big future.

I see what your saying but Siro is very heavily involved with the Tigers and I would be very very surprised if he left. I would be even more surprised if the Tigers didn't match whatever salary he was being offered by other clubs

I think the big difference is Curtis grew up in the area, played in the balmain juniors and has played footy his whole life with guys like woods, lovett, brown etc and now tedesco, nofo, Simona etc. Obviously money can change anything but I think it would need to be a pretty substantial increase to get him away from concord.

Mitchell Pearce has never played for a team even remotely associated with the tigers. He played all his junior footy in the north sydney comp, then joined the roosters when he was like 16.
He played for North Ryde for a while...with a Wallaby...but yeh mainly Norths Jnrs so I believe

Essentially, in 2015, Blair will be gone and Woods will take his coin.

Nofoaluma, Tedesco and Koroibete will be sharing the money previously taken up by Benji and everyone else we're still paying who aren't at the club anymore (if there's any of those left)

Isn't Blair here in 2015 too? I'm sure we signed him for 4 years (would love to be proven wrong)

I think 2014 will be a big year for Nofoaluma, Tedesco, Sironen and Koroibete in terms of retention.

All 4 have only essentially played 1 year of NRL with sironen the most at 25 games. All will need to have a strong 2014 as they need to back up what can often be a great first season once oppositions figure them out.

Nofoaluma: no doubt he can finish although small and not overly fast with serious defence issues. In his last 5 games he made 24 tackles with 19 missed or ineffective. That's only a 55% success rate and when on the line in one on one situations not anywhere near first grade standard. Even if we retain he is a winger and they are the lowest paid.

Tedesco: potential galore although again has yet to show he has any one quality to make him an elite fullback. He has been steady and reliable. Given the importance of fullbacks in today's game as part of the all important spine. Has yet to show his overall worth to make the team better in either in link up or support play. When compared against another rookie fullback such as Matt Moylan he hasn'tset the world alight.

Sironen: what is his position? Seems to slow and big for 5/8 long term although in saying that could be a sutton type. Hasn't shown anything on the edge as a back rower yet to convince that this is his position. Definitely has skill but again 5/8 is a crucial spine position and with tedesco developing can't afford to carry both with a rookie brooks. Back row - doesn't have the aggression of his dad and has yet to demonstrate how his skill can be utilised well on the edge.

Koroibete: the one I rate the most. Hard runner, good speed, tackling is decent (much better stats than nofoaluma) although is still very raw and learning the game. Positioning and decision making can sometimes be suspect although there is a big upside given his natural skill should he get it all right. Again a winger though and they are the lowest paid.

In all I wouldn't commit much to these four yet all have much to prove and as I said 2014 could be the making or undoing of each in terms if long term futures. I do take they are all rookies and could have great futures I just would hate to see all this cap space spent on players who won't propel us forward into an elite team.

These days you have to commit big and fast with any young talent coming through your ranks or they will be stolen from under your nose. It's a risky business as many players just don't kick on. In days gone by you could hold them for a few year on modest money and than make a call, these days they all have big time managers who are out their in the market place trying to get them big inflated contracts.

You make a very good point. A lot of our judgement on the quality of these players is based on the potential elite players they could become. 2014 I guess will be the final "Try Outs" for the Tigers FG squad because if they can't show consistent performances with all the games under their belts then they won't get the contracts they want.

However, I have very strong faith in our young talent. Especially Tedesco and Nufoluma

Yet we still have a large amount of dead wood on our books.
This will hurt us come time to retain. The Sheens legacy will take another half decade to erase.

I see what you're saying with these players but I think your judgements are a bit pessimistic across the board.

Tedesco showed in the last month of the year that he is going to be a star. Moylan had a great debut, but I think Tedesco has already shown more. He was starting to look a lot more comfortable and was chiming in to the backline more. I thought he was our standout player towards the end of the year.

Nofoaluma might not be tall but he's very safe under the high ball, I can't remember him being out jumped too often. And he's a total powerhouse. I also think he's a bit quicker than you're giving him credit for. And those stats surprise me, stats can be pretty misleading at times. I don't recall him having too many glaring defensive deficiencies.

And I thought Siro looked damaging at times on the edge in the second row. That try he scored off a Brooks short ball against the Dragons was a taste of what he's capable of. He's also got the skill and size to ball play on the edge, either before the line or through it. I think the 'show and go' will become a pet play for him. He's going to be even bigger after this off season. I have a feeling he and Brooks could cause plenty of problems on the edge. My only concern is the high volume of defence he's going to need to do. But as I said, let's see what physical shape he's in after the off season.

Teddy looked awesome at the end of the season. Nofo and Simona had great years, but so did Blake Ayshford once, I hope they follow it up. This is Lawrence's time to show he still has something. Otherwise I am hoping this is his last contract. Koro has all the talent in the world, and has a real X factor, but he needs to show his skills improving otherwise he could end up too much of a liability for grade. Siro looks good without setting the world on fire. Will be interesting to see how he goes in the back row. Bring on 2014 - I am excited for the new era without Marshall

Missed tackle stats for wingers and fullbacks can be very misleading. They are so often faced with 2 on 1 situations where 90% of the time they will miss a tackle no matter how good a defender they are

Good point...extra man plays and overlaps are almost indefensible much of the time
