Agree ... freak accident ... and i dont reckon phil would have wanted the game to be played any differently ... any saftey improvements that can be taken going forward are great, but a witch hunt was never needed

Yes it was a freak accident. I was a tad irked by the family getting worked up over work place safety and playing the duty of care card. Very sad to lose such a great human being to such a tragic accident.

I hope they find peace in their hearts and move on.

I hope I am not being too much of a merkin by saying this. Apologies in advance if i have offended.

I think the coroner got it right,Hughes was actually through his shot before the ball got to him and his body began to rotate hence it hit him in the back of the head, generally its the bounce and pace that does the damage but he handled the pace too well

Second day batting should be a highway and its gonna be about 37 degrees so Saffas should be chasing a lot of Kookaburra this arvo
Today is forecast to be 28.
The 37 is tomorrow and we will probably be back in the field. hopefully we can bat today and most of tomorrow, get 500 in front and have 2 days at them to finish it off.

I think there is still a collapse in us somewhere. MMarsh and Neville haven't exactly set the world on fire, same with Voges.

Sounds like pretty good drinking weather tomorrow.

It's understandable that the family feels the way they do, they've lost a son and brother. But some of the stuff they came out with was more than a little ridiculous. No bowler really wants to hurt a batsman...sure, maybe we want to rough him up a bit, a few bruised ribs and so on, but not seriously hurt him. They went beyond the pale IMO. But they deserve some slack given what they've been through.

It sucks that Warner is out, but I have to say that's the finest example of the commentators curse that I've ever seen....just a masterpiece

Pretty f**king poor lbw decision on Smith ... no way that should be out

Infact surely you would say he played a shot at that, and since it pitched outside off, not the f**k out merkin

Smiths decision was absoluetly disgraceful ... there are only 2 merkins in the world who thought it was out, the bowler (and im not sure he really did) and the dumb f**k umpire

I haven't seen the decision but a ball can pitch outside off and you can still be given out LBW, even if you don't shoulder arms. As long as it hits you in line playing a shot then it doesn't matter if it pitches outside off stump.

However, if it pitches outside leg then you can't be given out regardless if you're playing a shot or not.

It was a disgraceful decision really, there is no way you should be out LBW 3.5m down the track hit on the knee roll at the WACA. Aleem Dar wanted to make a "brave" decision, that's all.
