Not mentioned by I go Whare as captain. Kinda the only senior guy that will play the same role week in week out.

That or co captains of Merrin & Moylan is my preference

Yeah I like Whare. Calm, hardworking and professional. LOL at the Cartwright mention, as if they would put that on him, how ridiculous to even bring up. Out of all our players I think it would suit Merrin the best, from everything he has said so far he seems to be embracing the challenges of being a great player and leader. Merrin with Moylan coming after would do nicely.

Yeah Cartwright is fine in the leadership group but needs to get comfortable playing consistant footy 1st

Happy that he got it even though I think he should have been slowly developed into captain. We may finally see a captain last a few seasons. He could be the captain for the next 10 years if his body and form can hold up.

Captain, works his way into the halves, its all piecing together.

Not unhappy with it. Wallace has the writing on the wall, seems Taylor may also.

Maybe but he is also the most clutch player in the NRL. He loves pressure and im willing to back him. Great sign from Griffin too that he's willing to make big calls.

Griffin wouldn't have made this call without the blessing of the rest of the squad.

IMO,it's an astute move which will give Moylan more responsibility as it will show through his game the same way it did for Darren Lockyer.

Add this to the strong 9's squad and there's promise that Griffin may be a good signing.

Isn't this kid too quiet to be a proper captain?

I don't think so, when fit last year you could see him on the field talking and directing traffic and he was more and more involved in the on field decision making between the players, as in when you get penalty and are deciding what to run etc Moylan was always apart of those discussions.

Directing and leading kind of comes with the territory of playing in the spine.

Im not making comparisons here but Cam Smith is fairly quiet despite directing everything for any team he plays in, Lockyer was the same way. Gallen on the other hand is a loudmouth, same as Robbie Farah and neither of them are good captains imo. That doesn't really prove anything but I think you can be a good captain without being the loudest guy out there.

I think a guy like Petero was too quiet to be a proper captain, a great leader but not a proper captain. Moylan already directs things on the field more than Petero ever did.

Making Moylan captain allows Griffin to drop Wallace.
If he picked Wallace or Taylor there would have been a good chance in 12 months time of another captain.
Moylan gets on well with the younger players in the team and has no trouble ordering the seniors around.
