2016 FFBRL Draft

Yeah, i need to average 253k to hit the 10.5 cap. That's not gonna happen.

It's just weird seeing a 9/5 Shaun Johnson be worth 10k less than a 6/6 Brad Murray.

Also, f**k, i wanted Matai.

Well, I do my own research, my own way...I mean, my very first draft, I made a lot of people mad by making my very first pick Jamie Rooney...

...those Poms didn't think a Yank that never played league could pick players...and then, they didn't think a Yank could show any tactical nous...

...then they wept, wailed, and gnashed their teeth when I won a Grand Final (except for the bloke that was my oppo number - it was one hell of a Grand Final, and he is one hell of a good guy!)...

...however, repeating a Grand Final this season, I would place the odds of that for me at about 18-1 against...

Upon further review, I think we probably need to be careful, no manipulation of picking players just to swap out later...

...I would have a blackout period of a couple of rounds, at least...

...but, I will chance asking about a small increase in the salary cap - perhaps up to $11 million? (I can live with it as it is now, but a bit more cash won't hurt, imo...)

Ways we could prevent this
- A limit of say 2 trades per team

- Unlimited trades with the F/A pool in case of injury etc

- Limit of ONE trade between teams with the same manager, e.g if i'm care taking, I can't pick someone up just to secure them for my main team.

- A blackout period of say 5 rounds, no trades allowed, whatsoever.

Salary Cap, what are we doing here? It seems like everyone will be over? Will there be a punishment system scaled to how far over you are, or are we just going to do a normal draft for now to figure out an agreeable salary cap for future seasons?

How do we deal with the draft selection if a team reaches their cap? Are they forced to drop players?

As a few of us have discussed, I think this draft is better used to establish a salary cap. Declaring it beforehand when we haven't really been able to settle on a fair salary seems a bit premature.

What I'd say we'll do is end up reassessing and deciding on a fair cap after the draft is done.

It will be a median though, so those who go crazy in the draft will still be in trouble. As long as you make reasonable selections (rather than taking every high priced player), you'll be fine.

It's as clear as I can get for now

Trust me, if I'd known we'd need to reassess the salary cap, I'd have kept Cam Smith :p

There's already a rule about this. The trade has to be approved by a board of senior coaches. Me and Soc tried to cheat this back in the first season.
