newcastleknights .com. au news under Knights name junior squads Tuesday October 14 2014, but ignore the year because then it has a story with Matt Lantry interviewed and their Knights 2015/16 summer squads named.

There are a few kids missing from 2016 summer squads that I have been told had been selected and a few named in the list that have been told to move on, plus that are all a year older. Like I first thought it is wrong.

That is last years initial summer squads selection. It is dated Tuesday October 14 2014... October 14 was a Wednesday this year.

100% correct mate!!!! 3 blokes are with the knights but it takes more than 3 in a team to make a GF at that age group.

The Central Coast Centurians and the Sydney Roosters Harold Matts and S.G.Ball squads clashed at Morry Breen Oval this morning. The Centurians Matts will cull 15 players and announce the squad tomorrow some time to which they should then have a 30 player squad until early next season when they will finalise their 25 man squad.
The CCCenturians Matts probably outscored the Roosters by atleast 5 tries, I left when the Coasts S.G.Ball were down early 1 try to nil.

Dragons played Illawarra today in Shellharbour.

Don't know results though.

Little early though isn't it, when I was in the Bears SG Ball squad for the 05 season our 1st trial game was in early February.

Had 3 trials then the comp started.

Unfortunately I was cut after the 2nd one (I guess chasing down a run away Jarrod Sammut from the other side of the field wasn't good enough)

dont know what game you watched, but central coast didnt beat roosters bye atleast 5 tries, 1st 20min was 3-1 to coast. 2nd 20min was 2-2 and the 3rd was 2-1 roosters. some positives but all in all they had 30 plus guys in the trial, was a very scrappy trial bye both teams. once each team selects there squads of 25 and work on structure and plays they both will improve. but it wasnt the best harold matts trials iv watched

Either way rugby league fan CCCenturians finished in front and looked comfortable though it definately was scrappy, having been involved with the CCCenturians reps U14's 2014 and U15's 2015 I know most of these boys well but we have lost five gun players to Newcastle. Honestly support your area guys. Harold Matts and S.G.Ball are supposed to be development programs, if you want to represent another area then go and play in their local competition.

Fair call ! but when people over exaggerate the scores its not giving the people of this forum a true indication of how the game played out. Yes you are correct the centurions did look bye far the better squad, but a reminder these are only trials and not a true indication on what these team will produce come harold matts season. As for your last comment yes matts and ball are development but kids should be allowed to play where ever they want. if centurions are loosing players to newcastle there has to be a reason.?

The Roosters pathway is only a year old , we've lost eight players to the Knights and I'm positive atleast seven of those would've made our final squad, I'm sure this will cease over the next few years.
If I was a local Newcastle/Maitland/Group 21 junior I certainly wouldn't be happy.
The CCCenturians now have a squad of 33 players after culling about 15 players after yesterdays trial.

Clubs hire recruitment officers to scout players, at the end of the day its a business and clubs dont care where they come from. I do however understand what your saying. good luck with your clubs final selections and all the best in the up coming season.

If clubs don't care where the talent come from then surely they would not oppose a draft, which is the fairest way to distribute talent from the strong grassroots areas.

Anyway we are certainly very visible on the coast, I was in bugewoi soccer club during the week and the coasters have our badge on them. And I see the easts leagues club bus going up and down the freeway at times as well, so its obvious the club is laying down a strong pathway and connection to the region. Newcastle treat it as a picking ground for talent and give nothing in return when they should be focusing on the hunter and mid north coast

Totally agree CC_Roosters, after the Coast did their cuts last weekend Manly approached a few of them. I heard from one of Manlys Coast parents that Matts beat St George 15 tries to 2.
Honestly if you play in an area under an NRL pathway banner, players should be exempt from any salary caps involving that club.
