Micheal Gordon

Fullback 83 mins
30 receives
17 runs (127m)
1 TA
3 TB
7 T
1 OL
1 LBA

This is the difference between a professional player and a scumbag.
Gordon was denied a release by his club when he asked for one, and yet still turns out every week and plays like this.
Sandow on the other hand can go get f**ked.

I was at the Faiders v Sharks game on the weekend. Gordon goes OK, he isn't going to set the world on fire for us next year, but he can definitely play a role. He can also kick goals, which makes him virtually the first player picked either at fullback or on the wing next year.

We don't really need him to set the world in fire. Just for him to be solid.
We have other players to create the spark.

Like Ryan Morgan.

NRL Lowdown Round 20: Who’s on the cusp and who’s on the block at your club?

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...ock-at-your-club/story-fnp0lyn3-1227450575605

Who’s not: Origin backrower Beau Scott backed up a forgettable display in the decider with a poor return from suspension against the Titans. Scott failed to make any manner of attacking impact on the right edge and was lucky not to get found out on a couple of occasions. The veteran was exposed badly in Origin III with a lack of lateral quickness proving to be a well that never ran dry for the Queenslanders and will surely be exposed by canny NRL sides in the future.

Yeah good choice to replace Gordon with Barba. See his first touch?

Classic Barba.

I reckon the change was made because Gordon wasn't getting involved when attacking the Dogs line. Sharks had all the ball down there and Gordon was no where to be seen.

Now whether Barba is a better option is another question.

If Scott doesn't tackle exceptionally well he will be a liability as he does the least work in attack of any forward I can remember.

Some matches he only has 4 or 5 hit ups. Averages about 7 hit ups and 60 metres or so.

Is it every players's job to make 100+m per match ?

See Storms stats.

The answer is no.

Yes he will defend well. That's what he's been signed to do.

I think the broader point is that Moeroa + Scott might not be the most productive backrow in terms of yards. I guess it may allow Moeroa to pep-up his attack a bit. Scott can run some useful lines close to the goal too.

Did you like Barba's reaction to the Pritchard try?

Stands there and imitates a man trying to scythe an overgrown paddock. Yes Ben, you're supposed to read the play.

We will still have others to make the metres in Jr Paulo, Mannah, Pauli, Wicks, Watmough. Plus Semi is great at rucking it out as is Taka, and if we keep Hoppa there's another good runner out of dummy half.

Moeroa may become more involved as he matures. But then maybe that's not what the coach is asking from him.

I don't remember Dallas Johnson being all that great in attack either. But I'm sure of we signed him everyone would have been thrilled (including me).

Dallas Johnson retired at 30. I doubt anyone would be happy if we signed him at 32. Beau Scott will be 32 next year. Then we have him for 3 years, getting older, slower and more injured.

And he plays largely on the right. Where currently our first choice centre will be Morgan, who offers f**k all, and our weaker wing option.

Plus one of our halves will be playing on the right against his natural preference.

It could be a real issue.

And if Scott's defensive game falls away, as the article is suggesting it might be (on a small sample space) it's a genuine concern.

I can't cop people constantly saying don't worry about x being a complete plodder because we have other options.

We don't really have that many. And they are all on the left. And if mau and semi are injured we won't have much thrust, especially with probay the least penetrating fullback in the entire comp, and close to the weakest centre combination.

Well BF, If you have time, can you get down to the Saleyards next week and let BA know that he doesn't have a clue. You can then take on the role of club's recruitment advisor and cap manager, should be pretty easy according to all your comments

Then I will see another premiership sooner than I expected, and I am not the youngest on this bboard

Thanks

He'd probably still be playing if not for the million concussions he copped.
I don't think Scott is a bad signing. Not yet anyway. I think he can bring something to our team that we desperately need right now, which is good defence and experience.

I'll wait until next year to decide whether he is a bad signing or not.
