Whoah!
Ease up, sugar.
'Tis only a game.
Fifita was easily Australia's best prop available for selection.
The issue with Andrew is that he doesn't think about others and usually plays for himself. While he has the talent to get away with that approach at club level, at International level where he's got players around him who are more capable he tends to be a hindrance and is usually good for at least one costly error which can be the difference at this level.
I reckon Australia could have played Jordan McLean, Dylan Napa or Junior Paulo and the result wouldn't have been any different. When you've got so many talented players, all you need is a few workhorses, which is why Australia didn't miss a beat when Shannon Boyd got the nod over Fifita last season.
Besides, it isn't like Australia use their forwards to get rolling down the field. They've taken a page out of the Kiwis book with SKD & Vatuvei by largely relying on their backs like Fergo, Chambers, Holmes etc. to get the defence back-peddling, enabling the playmakers to do their thing.
But yeah, I don't know how you can bag Fifita when there was a much easier target than Merrin. Remember when Gus tried to sell him as NSW Captain? At this stage, he'd be lucky to share the same locker room as Boyd Cordner.
