The jersey has been clean skin since Holden withdrew its sponsorship in 2015. Mal and the players actually like it that way. Like you wouldn’t put a VB or Commonwealth Bank logo on cricket’s Baggy Green.

“There are other ways they can commercialise the Kangaroos with merchandise, signage, licensing and memberships,” he says.

“We’ve built a DNA, and if someone’s going to get involved with us, they’ve got to be of the same values.”

I'll take that as you conceding lol
how so? you are the one who can't answer the question. Or do you think Meninga is responsible for the sponsorship of the Kangaroos? That would be news to the NRL's head of commercial;

But instead of settling for less, Abdo said the NRL have a strategic plan which includes sourcing a long-term partner who will sponsor the Australian team through until the 2017 World Cup.

“We’ve got a new team in the commercial marketing space at the NRL, we came on board in December and we definitely saw Test match footy and the Kangaroos as an asset that we want to promote and make sure we maximise the value,’’ Abdo said.

“We’ve managed to get some great long-term sponsors on for the Jillaroos but in terms of the Kangaroos we’ve been made a couple of offers which are short-term in nature and below the value that we hold those assets at.

“So we’re looking for the right partner, a blue-chip partner who see the Kangaroos at the elite end of the game. There’s a plan in place going forward for the Perth Test, the Four Nations and then the World Cup.’’

Wait, you're quoting me an April 2016 story talking about two events that have passed while I've told you what Mal said as recently as April this year?

I'll stick with Mal's words there, unless you can find me something more recent on where the Kangaroos are desperate to fill the void.

Mal was also coach in April 2016 when NRL head of commercial, Abdo, not Mal, is quoted as saying they have a strategic plan to have a sponsor for the world cup. They have obviously not found a sponsor willing to pay what they value the jumper.

It's amusing that you believe a footy coach has more credibility about the sponsorship of the Kangaroos than the NRL executive charged with the commercial operations of the game.

If you think Mal's got no input into what happens around this then you're clueless.

Do any of you wonderful jersey nerds know if Best & Less will be selling Kangaroos jersey merch?
