Two things I learnt tonight...

1. Edrick Lee is not a Rugby League player of ANY standard.

2. Gus Gould is Darius Boyd's new stepfather. Whatever Boyd has digested, Gould has eaten. Wayne "Bentface" Bennett has been sacked.

One thing I questioned tonight....

Has the voluntary tackle rule been scraped? On two occasion, Boyd, and on one occasion, Kahu, dropped to the ground like expelled tampons when covering a last tackle kick by the Sharks. As I didn't see the whole game, there was probably more of the same occurrence by both teams.

Round One and I'm already pissed off. Probably because the Broctards won.

It's been that way for a while, I have vague memories of a couple of penalties where the players just stood over them with their hands in the air, if they go in to complete the "tackle" it's usually let go..Probably hasn't resulted in a penalty more than a handful of times in the last decade, there's probably been more penalties from players using "unnecessary" force slamming into players on the ground (legally) than from voluntary tackles.

And I don't think the Sharks did it once, even as a Broncos supporter, we'd need the kicking ability to force the opposition into making that choice. Our options tonight were basically bomb 20m out, or grubber into people's legs, I'd say our best kick of the night was McGuire booting it into Gallen..which is a bit unnerving.

We've been doing it for years, lol.. Hunt is easily the worst last play kicking option in the league, that's why I fear for the Dragons when he goes there

If you've seen Widdop's last tackle options lately you'd be laughing for us instead of fearing for us.

No seriously, you guys should be worried. Hunt forced 2 repeat sets tonight but that's pretty much all he did. His kicking was as woeful as usual, he isn't making much of his coveted running game recently and his defence on Leutele's try was lazy and rushed. I am legit starting to be convinced he is damaged goods. For the sake of our premiership hopes this season, I hope I'm wrong, but he's been like this now for an entire season.

I really hope R20 was watching Ch 9 tonight. Rabs and Gus gave Matt Chechin one of the biggest raps I've ever heard given to a referee. I can just see the steam coming out of R20's ears after that :D
Yeah, I wouldn't be holding up Rab's opinion as any sort of definitive proof. The old bastard had no idea what half the penalties were for last night

Yeah Chechin reffed well, if he were reffing a grid iron game.

Checcin was good, ruled on a couple tries that most refs would send up. Like they said in the commentary no one was blowing up at him which is usually a good sign.

If saying he missed about 14 forward passes is taking a loss badly, then yes i'm taking the loss badly.

You're attributing the loss to Checcin missing forward passes, it's not up to him to call on that, it's the touchies.

Also, if you would look at the errors you made and your teams inability to control the ball, you'd see the real reason you lost that game.

When did I ever blame the loss on the ref?

I said he didn't pull up the forward passes. No its not the touchies job to pull these up, the ref can call on these.

Lol yeah mate it is the touchies job, the ref relies heavily on the touchies to call these. Its a lot easier when you are standing in line with the play rather than in front or behind it.
