Let's be frank, neither of these sides is a top 4 team. Making the 8 is exceeding expectations. I thought our luck was out with the injury to Thompson in the warm up, but turns out it is on. Hopefully we go on with it in the second 40. Been a long, long time since we've put a team properly to the sword. I think 2007 against Canberra was the last time we topped 50.

Manly have been totally overpowered

Not having Green and Api is the real killer here. DCE doesn't organize, and though he no longer needs Killer/Foran/Ballin level players to help in that regard anymore, I'm not sure what Trenty was thinking giving those two this weekend off to make sure they were 100% for next week.

Yeah resting them in a game against a team also in the top 8 seems a tactical error.

If you told me Manly would win 50% of their games their season 4 months ago I would have called you mad. In fact, I'm pretty sure I called several people mad.

Still sucks but.

I know it's a bold statement in Round 21 but I think from here, the Cows will shunt Cronulla out of the top 4 into 5th, 6 thru 8 will arm wrestle for their positions and that should be just about it.

Big calls.

You writing Panthers off?

Sharks have Warriors, Raiders, Broncos, Cowboys, (4 point game if you are right..) Roosters and Knights.

Cowboys have Roosters, Storm, Panthers, Sharks, Tigers, and Broncos.

Some tough games for both teams, but you'd think the Cowboys draw is a bit tougher (though they have 3 home games left, Sharks only 2).

There is every chance Cowboys finish 4th, Sharks 5th, but really 2nd to 8th are still very open.

After winning 3 of our last 10, I know where you're coming from. Pre season, I would have taken "will compete for 8th" every day of the week. Still very disappointing to slip backwards after the way we started.

Nah not writing Pennies off at all. Finishing 8th is an Anthony Griffin special. When I say 6 thru 8 will fight for their positions, you always have to include 9th in the back of your mind. 8th is always a clusterf**k of who is gonna get their nose over the line quickest.

The only bold statement I'm really making is, I'm not sold on the Sharks as a top 4 side at all. They have looked pretty clunky at times over the past few rounds, not least of which getting toweled up by the Titans. I think you'll find when they come up against the Broncos, Cows and Roosters, they're gonna get exposed pretty badly only to smash the Knights in R26 to put themselves in the frame for 5th.

Everyone thought the Cows were done after JT went down, myself included, but you can't deny they're a well drilled, well oiled footy side who do not give up, ever.
