Just seeing Pearce prove he isn't SOO material was a win for me.

The team that didn't deserve to win was good enough to make him look terrible.

When was the last time a player who had no involvement in the play is called offside? And surely the chasers were run off th ball as much ss in the roosters penalty in the first half.

Anytime they get within 10 metres of the catcher as per the rule.

You can whinge all you want about calls like that but at the end of the day the chasers could have just stood a metre or 2 further back and there is no issue. They must practice this all the time so it is their own fault.

Mitchell Pearce did the same thing in the 1st half

by 50/50 calls i wasnt talking explicitly just about calls which denied tries. i meant calls in general such as the tupou one which, althought they didnt amount to anything, were still the wrong call

Trent Merrin playing the ball so side on it had even Sally Fitzgibbons was questioning whether he's straight & Fisher-Harris taking Keary flat out on a decoy run?

There's plenty of 50/50's in every game. We could probably go an nit pick another dozen out of the game each. Penrith just struggled to cross that line, the weather probably played a bigger factor in the result of the game.

You're gunna get bad calls. The panthers shut down the raid after the horrible not in touch call. If the fullback put his body on the line instead of jumping out of the way the forward pass would have been nullified.

I have to agree i dont know wtf moylan was doing. i thought the forward pass had been called because it seemed in slow mo

yep i agree wet weather seems to be our enemy. and yes i do recall that merrin play the ball im probably guilty of being a bit too biased but as i said earlier 17 errors by easts and we score 1 try is pretty bad

lol Blocker has got some good money on the Panthers tonight.

All week he was on the Roosters to win this.

Blocker will be seen having a beer with the refs at Canterbury leagues tonight.

They'll need the security with all the cash they'll be collecting.

From the 2017 Laws of the Game, Section 14 (Offside), Law 2 (Out of Play) Page 36 -

2. An offside player shall not take any part in the game or attempt in any way to influence the course of the game. He shall not encroach within ten metres of an opponent who is waiting for the ball and shall immediately retire ten metres from any opponent who first secures possession of the ball.

There is also a note to law 2, onm the same page -

Interfering with catcher 2. Any offside player who remains within ten metres of an Catcher opponent who is set to catch a kick up field by an opposing player shall be deemed to be interfering with or attempting to interfere with the catcher and shall be penalised unless the non-offending team gains an immediate advantage.

Hope that helps

Did they score off a forward pass at the end? If yes... then you are wrong. If no... uou are blind. Dickhead.

Calling a Queerslander a "dickhead" is a badge of honor to those north of the border. So encouraging them only leads to more interbreeding with farm animals.

Bad enough with them having two heads with a quarter of a brain between them.

The Roosters definitely received some fortuitous calls but Penrith just didn't take their opportunities.

The Roosters are on the rise and this loss will fuel finals fever come September

To me,Easts were the better side who capitised on those two errors we made at the Easts 20. Easts settled and marched up-field and scored off our own blunders from JFH and James Tamou. Unforgivable mistakes that practically handed the game to the opposition.

Harder point about this loss is that it was at home, although our luck at the SFS isn't too bad.

Both teams were a bit rusty coming in to a much higher intensity match than the standard NRL fare, but both adjusted pretty well. I really enjoyed the game, and think both teams showed lots of promise.

I personally thought the refereeing was pretty good, some close calls either way, Penrith seemed to get a few close calls against them at the end when it seems to count, but I didn't think there were any howlers.

It is frustrating to lose to a try in the last few minutes that seemed to have a forward pass in it, though the Panthers certainly could have defended the play better.

I never at all doubted the talent or attacking ability of either team, but thought both teams had really been untested in terms of toughness and had my doubts that either could play tough in an intense match. I am happy that I was wrong. It is still early but it looks like we can add two more teams to the list of genuine contenders, which makes for a good year (not like last year's "soft" competition....)

FYI - That's the only game we play this year. Only other will be finals.

A very good and observant post Wibble.

I stated to IBM earlier in the match after he mentioned that the refereeing was being questionable that I hoped that a refereeing blunder won't be the difference. (not the exact words, but I hope you get my point). But alas, the non penalty on Peachy was the icing on the cake after the other non rulings or missed calls.

After a great game like the one we saw,I can handle a loss like this, rather than a loss which could cost us a berth if at seasons end it all makes the difference.

Lol the non penalty on Peachey.

It was a great tackle.

Go watch AFL if you don't like a bit of physicality :D
