20 years ago who would have thought we would have seen Lebanon beat France in a World Cup
- though given that virtually all the Lebanese players are heritage, this may be more indicative of the poor state of France rather than the spread of the game

Noddy's an idiot, speaking full-on Aussie slang to these poor French players struggling to understand what he's on about! hahahaha.

It would shatter my grandad if he saw it. He was always disappointed by Frances demise. He fondly would remember how big those Australia-France series were.
They looked great when they were behind and once they evened it up they would do something stupid like a drop ball or a shit pass from dummy half. Barthau kick at the end sums up their game.

What do you expect? The local Lebanese players to be up to this standard?

4 players were invited into the initial squad and 1 is staying on for the whole tournament, the training and skills they’ll take back will be priceless!

The coverage this will get in Lebanon will be priceless! Most Lebanese in Australia are first generation and have a tremendous amount of passion for the Motherland a land we all have family members who have shed blood to defend!

Great win and bring on the Poms!

Was at the game.

Good contest, but France just lacked class players. Fittler did well with the Lebanon team, based the game plan on their 4 NRL players. Lichaa, Moses, Mannah and Farah just a class above and they won them the game.

Bad luck for the French, but this should be a wake up call they need as this game just shows how far behind they are from other emerging nations.

These emerging nations are as good as how many heritage players are available. PNG would be a better indicator and would like to see a three match series between the two.

I think I heard the French team is the youngest in this World Cup?

Still a lot to like, just felt they needed their halves to take control. Bousquet played a blinder and the young winger Bergal looked good. Also could see Warington all over Julien.

I was there too, Lebanon I thought were bigger and slowed down the play the ball to good effect crippling Frances attack. But you're right they were a class about: good depth, spacing and effective decoys that any NRL side would be pleased with. Both Played for the full 80. Good game.
