No. To give away would be giving them for nothing in return.
Selling them cheap, even for a buck, is not "giving them away".
LOL OK then. Some of you guys have such passion for the game that you're seriously deluded.
Fact 1. Price is always the key. If you make something cheap enough it will sell, nobody can dispute that. This is just simple economics
Fact 2. The rugby league grand final is a very expensive event for most people and certain teams don't have the volume of supporters to be able sell the event out at those prices. Most neutrals that used to attend wont anymore either at those prices.
A few years ago a lady at work got what are Level 6 Diamond seats through junior footy to the Cowboys and Broncos grand final. When I posted that on here about 4-5 of you jumped on me in disbelief like how could something like that have happened.
Personally I don't think they will have a problem cracking 80K but that will be as a result of some giveaways and heavy discounting.
It's got nothing to do with neutral Sydney people hating the Roosters or the Storm. Depending on who's playing and based on supply/demand throughout the week the NRL adjusts ticket prices accordingly based on that to ensure the game is as close to a sell out as possible. They've done this for decades.
What a lot of you are also forgetting is that rugby league is still very much a Sydney game. The more popular Sydney clubs have no problems selling a grand final out at those high prices whilst the less popular and out of town teams always struggle and I don't see this changing anytime soon.
You don't consider re-categorising Category 1 $380 Diamond seats and turning them into Bronze seats to Rugby League's biggest event practically a give away? They're quite sneaky about the way they do that too so they don't upset the poor suckers who paid full price not to mention the fact that they can't be seen as devaluing the event itself.
