I’ve been seeing a lot of ISC fan jerseys without the knitted NRL and team logos. On first look, I thought they were fake Chinese versions but they aren’t. So anyone know where they would be for sale as team stores only sell knitted logos and eBay has limited teams and jerseys.
Fakes bra.
They flooding the market.
Actually not all are fakes at all, they are simply “unlicensed”-
People selling them before they get to the shops. This is good or bad unsure, but might put the wind up the nrl/shops that people will stop paying $160 for a shirt that costs $10 to make...
I dunno about other places but I’m from Brisbane and can currently see 5 different sellers on gumtree with embroidered AND sublimated logos. Selling 2018 jerseys for $50 max

There were a couple of people at the Eels fan day wearing fake jerseys. Easy to spot as the Blue and Gold were a different shade, the Aland sponsor on the back was bigger and the stitching on the shoulder panels was different

That parra heritage jersey is mint.

Why couldn’t the sponsor integration of the home/away be as well done?

But really, they should just be wearing that jersey full time anyways.

I tend to prefer the one that PARRA wore in the 70s and 80s. The one John Peard wore as the bomber and used in most of their grand finals at that time. ( blue base with gold stripes in midrift and on shouldèrs/arms.Also think the inverse with gold and blue stripes should be the alternate strip.

I will never understand why designs that are meant to wrap around the jersey are ruined by faux side panels.

Can someone point out to me exactly when this started creeping into jersey designs and why?

The side panels are a different material to the rest of the jersey for the players version, not sure why they used a different colour to the main design. My only guess make the shoulders of the players look bigger.

I may be wrong but I think Souths were the first to this with their Firepower sponsored jersey in 2007, fact check required. The used different colour side panels to match the colour of the rabbit logo, collar and sleeves on the jersey, might have started the trend?

For the most part on player cut jerseys the side panelling is in order to allow a better fit across the various body sizes.

Pretty sure the side panels are more of an elastic style material on the players jerseys, like Tim was saying, to allow for a better fit for the players.

I heard George Roses needed aviation quality lycra to withstand the pressure exerted upon it........

The player's cut (ISC) I have at home is a mesh panel and I don't think its particularly stretchy. Something like this wouldn't allow for sublimation but I've seen others that weren't mesh (I've been told that the fabric is sometimes flipped over for the panels so it looks like a new material but I can't confirm).

Manufacturers like CCC don't seem to think the panel is necessary, although their fabric might be different (and their seams are different).

In the end, its a bit disappointing that a feasible solution to the side panel hasn't been worked out. And its ridiculous when the panels are sublimated on in the absence of an actual panel.

The player cut is usually done with the side panel though.

ISC showed with the Roosters 2017 Auckland Nines AlteenAlt jersey that it is actually possible to add some basic design elements to the side panel.

The new Storm jersey also appears to have a lightening bolt in that area:
