I’d like someone to point out to me where in the rule book it states that obstruction doesn’t matter if “the pass beats the defence.”

I’ve watched a lot of rugby league and that’s the first time I’ve ever heard that.

Can someone explain to my why wingers come off their man to create and overlap for the attacking team? I see it all the time and it drives me crazy,

Normally it's a function of the defence inside them leaving the winger outnumbered. Then the winger shoots in to try and stop the play and cops the blame if they miss.

There, even with the potential obstruction, you could see how Souths got caught short in the backrow/halfback/centre area.

Can't say cos addo Carr is fast that it's not an obstruction. Slater still went behind a player who took a player out to gain an advantage for an easier pass.

Im f**king lost to what the actual f**k is an obstruction these days..

Last week they gave a nearly identical try to the Titans. I believe both that one, and tonight’s, were tries using common sense. Issue is all year they’ve ruled them as no tries.

Unless they’ve changed the rule last week (which knowing the NRL they might have) both should have been no tries.

Usually either the centre comes in so they have to follow otherwise the gap will be on his inside or the overlap has already been created and trying to shut it down

I don’t even think ‘common sense’ means that’s a try. That was 3 on 3, Reynolds got blocked from going to Slater which makes it a 3 on 2, and then the winger jams in because there’s an overlap. The obstruction directly causes havoc in the defensive line.
