Ponga getting all the wraps but bugger me if Fitzgibbon wasn't the best out there tonight. Really developing into a good player.
I wasn't a believer when he first hit NRL, but he just continues to grow and get better. Could be the next best backrower we've produced since Steve Simpson the way he's going at the moment... he has a cracking knack for hitting holes at pace. Great timing.

I thought he was a quiet achiever last year. Did his job, improved a bit and was pretty solid, but didn't have a high ceiling. Massive leap this year. Definitely has a higher ceiling than I gave him credit for, especially on attack.

SKD's AIDS performance from the kick-off and Pearce's cold drop were the only things that made the Broncos look like they had a chance in that one.

Knights were patient with the ball, no hospital passes- exactly what I hoped from them. The scoreline didn't reflect the disparity between the sides. To paraphrase Paul Keating, they did Brisbane slowly. Despite not getting the penalties or the amount of possession the Broncos had, the Knights always had the upper hand and clearly had more purpose to them. Glad to see them put in the performance I hoped to see and go about it the manner they did. My only real disappointment is they didn't keep the Broncos to 0.

As for Brisbane? They were undercooked, unenthusiastic and limp. Aside from Milford showing a couple of moments where he looked threatening up the middle (and his try) and Jimmy Roberts, nobody else from the Broncos looked like they gave a shit. They really lucked out with that corner post against the Cowboys and the big steal against the Tigers. I can't recall the last time I saw an entire team show so little purpose. The Bulldogs are terrible and disjointed but even they look like they're trying more.

Still early days, but looks like it'll be a long, long season for the Broncos if Uncle Wayne doesn't fall on his sword. Reality is finally dawning on a lot of the Broncos faithful and people in the club itself who assumed for too long that another Premiership was just around the corner. The place needs a gutting and a rebuild. Everything about that organisation is lukewarm as it stands...

*Edit*

Watched in a noisy pub so didn't get to hear Thaiday's comment. What a disgrace. Even if it was a joke, a performance like tonight isn't the time to be carrying on like a smart arse. F**k him off completely.

The Broncos had a lot of questionable decisions go their way tonight. A heap of forward passes and cheap shots let go and the good guys still won. Times have changed in the NRL and ain't it grand.

Also, Ponga and Fitzgibbon are guns. Fitzy's a smokey for NSW if that form keeps up. He's like Cordner...just a lot better
