I reckon 18k limit.Plus of course the asbestos sheeting.

I know they have had crowds of over 20, 000 before but was back when there weren't concerns over public safety. Yeah I reckon 18,000 would be the cap now, I went to a game there in 1982 and the crowd was just over 18,000 and it was comfortably full.

Similar experience. Was at Manly v Roosters in 2008 and over 18000 at the ground. Still plenty of room . We sat on the North East corner of the hill. But the new requirement noticeable with 'pathways of grass' in a few spots on the main hill was not in play like it is nowadays.

Sydney is different. It's geography necessitates a territorial rivalry like no other. A balance of stadium and local ground use is the prudent way to harness fan connection. It's not an all in one scenario for Sydney. Sure upgrade the grounds with new grandstands and facilities but never lose the character of the Aussie hill. It's gold! And yes ofcourse use stadiums for the games as well. A balance is better for Sydney fans and this great and unique competition.
Utter rubbish. If we are to be a premium sport, attract the big sponsors, and the big end of town then we need to play out of quality stadiums with good attendances. This ‘Aussie hill’ you speak of is an outdated quaint tradition which, thankfully, is going the way of the North Sydney Bears.

I was saying to friends at the game before the crowd was posted that it is a good crowd but not a great crowd, the upper deck of the Brewongle and Churchill were very sparsely populated and the upper deck of the Bradman didn't look very full either. Just over 30,000 Is just a pass mark.
It’s an annoying crowd figure. The game deserved a full house. 25000 would have been poor. 35000 acceptable. 30000 is neither here nor there.

I wonder why Leichardt doesn't seem to need these pathways of grass?
Seems odd that different safety standards would apply.

Is there a source for this 45%? Seems a lot!

Yes, the asbestos is gone.

So why the bloody hell aren’t Manly fans on Brookvale Oval hill?

Despite waiting 11 years for a home final, the Manly Sea Eagles are suddenly in danger of having their famed suburban venue overrun by Cronulla fans.

According to NRL data, 45 per cent of all tickets currently sold for the club’s elimination clash at ‘Fortress Brookie’ belong to Sharkies supporters, many of whom will arrive en masse via a convoy of buses.

That sounds worse than having asbestos!

Agree, but what do you expect from Melbourne tomorrow, should be at least 20-25,000 ????
Think Asbestovale will be around 16,000.

Anything less than 20K would be a fail IMO. Would like to think it’d crack 25K but not super optimistic. Anything less than capacity is a failure for Manly.
