They should've changed the name of the award following what is an incredibly significant change in the criteria. You simply can't compare previous and past nominees anymore.

The organisers of the award 1) lacked a crapload of foresight or 2) knew the fallout would come but were too inept to do anything

So it's a Dally M style process where people vote 3-2-1 during international matches for 12 months

Noting that the first game of the year was actually on the Nov 10-11 weekend in 2018

But which international matches count?

Congrats to RTS, had an outstanding international year.

Lol at all the Aussies whinging because Teddy didn't win :D he wasn't even the best player on the field in the few games the Kangaroos bothered to play.

SST was herculean for Tonga, but hard to begrudge Roger.

...he should have won the Wally Lewis medal too. ;)

I was hoping for SST
Deserved recognition for Tonga knocking off Australia and GB. Guess the mid-year result went against him.
RTS was outstanding though.

If only we had more than a handful of games to judge!

JWH was probably the equal of those too as well - he finally lived up to his reputation in black.
