I dunno, man. It’s probably time the Roosters modernise their jersey by adding a giant rooster head on the front. The kids would love it.

A friend of mine works as a Conflicts Analyst at QBE.

She told me the reason why her and her team came to the conclusion that QBE should no longer sponsor the Roosters but should still continue to sponsor the Swans.

FYI the reason is nothing disparaging to do with the Roosters.

The most likely reason why QBE sponsored the Roosters in the first place is because both QBE and Allianz are general insurers and compete in the same market. As the Roosters have few fans, the Allianz branding on the seats is generally visible on TV screens so it makes sense from a commercial perspective to have this sponsorship (probably the same reason why Vodafone sponsors the Warriors).

The only conflict would be if QBE was their supplier for Workers Comp. QBE sold their Life Insurance business so there is no issue rom a personal/players perspective.

The sponsorship market in Sydney is tough at the moment. It appears the premiers have lost both their sleeve (QBE) and back of jersey sponsor (World First) this year and the Rabbits are still yet to secure a second major partner (it appears Alcatel have upgraded to a jersey sponsor and Zoom have taken the spot under the collar). It's a tough position for the Rabbits though as apparently their jersey sponsorship commands the highest dollars in the comp meaning there's a tradeoff between getting a sponsor now and holding out for the dollars they want.

Vodafone's sponsorship of the Warriors commenced in 1999 and has nothing to do with Telstra being the sponsor of the premiership.

I think that Souths actually do have a second major partner, I think it's P&O.

The Indig. mens jersey looks odd with the white sleeves. The womens design has a better balance.

I'm guessing the white sleeves are there for visibility of the Aboriginal Flag. Notice the women's jersey with dark sleeves doesn't have the flag.
