2019 Knights Rep Players

I can wash my mouth out afterwards but my sentiments on this at the moment are 'stuff the Blues....he needs to be given more opportunity to show what he can do for the benefit of the Knights!' ;)

This. So much this. Club Premiership before an Origin series win for me.

I don't want us to lose players for rep duty but, in a way, I'm ok with it. SOO players are a major bonus to a team and the more experienced that are at it I think the better it will get for us.
Not only do they need to (usually) perform well for their club to get in but they also come back better barring injuries.

Yeah - my original sentiment about more of this for the benefit of the Knights vs getting him better in the frame for SoO was about him getting better 'opportunity to show what he can do' for us period!

He has been so underutilised to date and that needs to change for our benefit. If that happens, then I expect he would be a walk up start for the Blues, which I am also happy about...

Leilua out for the season and Bird injured tonight. I would’ve picked him over both of them to begin with but he’d have to be the favourite now.

Yep, 100%. I think if Ramien can string 1 or 2 good performances together it should get the nod

Ramien is 4th inmost tackle breaks in the whole comp and rarely gets the ball. His defence has been solid all year with a fantastic try saver on a winger yesterday. I find it crazy if he wouldn’t get in.

He hasn't been able to show his strike because our right side attack is so lethargic and he's got the human handbrake in Barnett inside him. Every time he gets the ball it's right at the line after going through 4 sets of hands or from a player crabbing sideways instead of quick, early ball with room to manoeuvre

I'm starting to wonder if our players struggle to pass from left to right like the under 12's. Ponga doesn't fit into this category, being left handed and all.

are there any websites where we can compare good detailed stats (best left and right attacking teams etc etc ) ? or is there only the basics like FOX and NRL.com offer

Blaming your edge forward for the centre not getting ball is some strange logic.

Ramien doesn't get much action because our two best ball players prefer to go to the left and Watson's ball playing can be described from "ordinary at best" to "non-existent".

Edge forwards have to create space and/or make brake to allow centre to receive the ball, doesn’t seem to be a problem for Fitz which allows Hunt and Lee to score. Yes Pearce and Ponga seem to prefer left side. Because Barnett’s stats are better than, I assume, Sione doesn’t make him good only better. It’s a problem that needs to be addressed and if that means moving Barnett for say Jones or Ese’ese then so be it.
No good arguing if Barnett is better or Sione is if neither do the job, need to fix it.

You're typical backline play has the edge forward as the lead runner. If the half hits him he's not being asked to pass the ball. If the half plays out the back to 5/8 or FB, the edge forwards job is done. Watson never passing isn't Barnett or sione's fault. You could put anyone out there and it wouldn't be any different unless the play from the halves changes.

agree, If we compare Barny's personal stats they are very similar to Angus Crichton and we all know he's being talked up as a SOO player. The issue is the 5/8.

Barney seems to be a middle forward in every form and way. Does the dude have any skill in attack? Fitzy has a great step and simmy he uses to get into holes but haven't seen any attacking potency from Barney yet.

Happy to have him in the middle though. Works hard. Should be competing with King for that 17 or 18 jersey not our starting 12 jersey.

Whilst you are right that Watson is a problem too there are instances where you need your edge backrower to have clean hands especially with the number of teams that play up and in in D. Yesterday Hopoate was able to score because the defence came up quick but Josh Jackson was able to catch and pass quickly right to Hopoate, Barnett doesn't have that ability, also Barnett doesn't pose much of an attacking threat which means he's never going to get the outside man jamming in, teams know they can mark up one on one, on the left teams are wary of Fitzy as a ball runner and the outside defenders want to jam in which creates space
