I seen tries like that given before
I’ve noticed a bit more of a liberal interpretation of whether or not a defender has been impeded although in this instance they pretty much ruled to the letter of the law.
You have a good eye for the rules, do you think they are more consistent on the inside/outside shoulder rule or is it still a bit of a lottery?
They most definitely are not consistent with it, especially if a try isn’t scored off that play.
In that particular play in this game it didn’t look like anyone was impeded, but on other ones people say stuff like ‘the defender made the decision’ and ‘bad defensive read’ when it is in fact a good defensive read, because the defensive player knows that the player out the back can’t get it because they are on the inside of the lead runner.

People reckon Manly got dudded on that DCE deal but when I say the calibre of half running around on similar coin all I can think is what a monstrous steal that was.
Hard to believe that after this year DCE will be THE elite half in the game.

Followed by Townsend and Reynolds.
