It's time for Brown to go. He's done a great deal since 2016 at the Knights, but he can only take them so far. With that roster, they should be where the Raiders are, the "best of the rest" who are the biggest chance of breaking up what almost certainly looks to be a Storm/ Roosters/ Souths Grand Final. Instead, along with St George and Brisbane they're the biggest underachievers in the comp. They should've won by about 10 points tonight but they keep playing dumb football and failing to capitalise on their next set after a try or repeat set.

Saying that, it was evident the refs really wanted Robbie to get over the line for his 300th game and did whatever they could to help the fairytale come true. Whatever you think of Ponga's send-off, you can't tell me he would've been marched if he played for certain teams in the top 3.

Any other day and that is just jostling for the footy in a scoring situation
Jostling for the ball?? Well why wasnt he directing his body towards the ball shoulder to shoulder in an attempt to ground or obtain possession?
WHY BECAUSE he wasnt , he was attempting to take the player out before he could get the ball.
Fmd some of you guys do my head in !

Farcical decision, sorry Knights fans, that was bullshit
Why was it farcical?
Ponga didnt go for the ball, he belted a guy who was going for it and knocked him shitless.
He knew he got him good as well as evidenced by his reaction straight after.
Chee Kam will miss at least a week due to foul play against him.
Explain again why it was farcical?

Ponga even admitted after the game the penalty was fair. He knew he fckd up

I've watched several replays and can't see how anyone comes to the conclusions Knights were hard done by. Apparently shoulder charging the head is fine these days

Looking forward to Joeys massive whinge on the Sunday footy show or whenever it is

MATCH REPORT - Wests Tigers 28 Knights 26:

Tigers help Robbie Farah to victory in his 300th
Justin Davies | July 26 2019 8:32PM

Newcastle Knights v Wests Tigers

Wests Tigers have kept their season alive with a 28-26 victory against Newcastle Knights tonight in front of 20,029 fans at Hunter Stadium.

The Tigers showed some grit after falling behind 12-nil, led by a Corey Thompson double alongside tries to milestone man Robbie Farah, Benji Marshall and Paul Momirovski that has kept their faint hopes of finals football alive.

After the early season promise, the Knights have fallen to four straight losses now which throws them right into the pack. It had all started so well after early tries to Kalyn Ponga and Jesse Ramien but another game where the Knights fumbled, bumbled and watched the game pass them by.

Yeah when he worked out he wasn’t getting to the ball, Ponga turned in to Chee Kam
Pretty much this, but the way everyone is talking about it they seem to think Ponga had enough time to have a durry while he thought about it. I don't think Kalyn realised he wasn't going to be able to affect the ball until pretty late, he's screaming in and instinctively tries to jostle Chee Kam off it. It went wrong due to the angle and speed he's coming in at, as well as Chee Kam falling to get down to the ball. You see this scenario play out with no-one getting hurt, penalized or sin-binned every game, every weekend.

I think the sin-binning was fine. I wouldn't be happy with any more than another week on the sideline from the judiciary, but I think he'll have a case to answer. It didn't cost us the game or our season at the end of the day. We've had plenty of chances to not be shit.

At the time I believed it was 2 guy going for a ball that took a wicked bounce and collided. Having watched it a few more times and seeing that 90% of neutral supporters believe it was correct I’ve changed my mind. I still don’t think it was intentional from Ponga, but that doesn’t really matter anymore.

If they charge him with a dangerous contact (head) it can be careless, reckless or intentional. Very few are charged with intentional since it's so hard to prove. The player was hit in the head. It was careless at the very least.

What it comes down to is one rule for some and another rule for others.

Exactly. A player takes out a player smashing him in the head leaving him convulsing on the ground. Put on report. No case to answer.

Pongia has joined a select list. If it was some plodder he would get a week. What happened to Kikau?

The NRL applies different rules for different teams and different occasions. Just because your team benefitted from it this time doesn't make the person pointing it out a crybaby.

You got continually marched downfield for no reason. It was Southseque. Sorry you had to come up against a full strength side. Maybe you’ll get a few teams missing their best players soon so you actually win again.

"You"

Don't recall saying I was a Knights fan? I simply thought they got some bad calls in the game last night and the NRL has a track record of being inconsistent with their rulings depending on the teams that are playing and the occasion. Knights have a squad that should've won last night and should be on the heels of Canberra but are hanging onto their finals hopes by a thread. That's on Brown.

Pearce has been poor the last 3 games. He needs a good creative 5/8 beside him. I've said it before but he has no ability to play whats in front of him.

I don't actually think the Knights roster is that good though. 7th-10th is about where they should be IMO
