Pfft Parra... Next!

Shame we didn't win a couple more games earlier in the year... every team is scared to play the mighty Bulldogs now! Hope we end Brisbane's season in the last round.

Look at Bullies fans up and running, getting excited about a team with a chance to win nothing.

You lot should be pissed that these muppets wasted over half the season doing f**k all before hitting any form. You need a minimum number of wins along with form at the right time to be a premiership threat. Right now, a team like Souths are still in a better position.

And there’s no guarantee this form will carry over to next season. These wins are achieving nothing unless they can return 2020 and get the wins early in the year

Where did I say we will win the premiership?
I said SHAME we didn't win games earlier in the year...

Let us enjoy this period leading into next year... Last 4 weeks we've conceded 5 tries against teams either in the top 4 or fighting for it (Souths and Parra) and teams either in the top 8 or fighting for it (Penrith & Tigers).

I think I'm right in saying 8 weeks ago we were dead last and unbackable favourites for the spoon.

They had a strong finish last year too, it must be said.

The side won 3 from their first 14 and 6 from 8 since then. Kinda like Knights 2005 who won 8 of their last 11 after losing 13 straight. This was Andrew Johns-related though, as soon as he returned from his broken jaw they started winning. There's no obvious reason the Dogs have come good.

Bravo Bulldogs!

I like seeing some fight in a team.

Para had their periods again. Can't win? Get feisty, bitch and moan...

The old “mathematical” chance
Because there are two places available, its more complicated, but basically only one other side can reach 24 out of Broncos, Sharks, Panthers, Knights, Warriors and Tigers. They have no chance of passing anyone in for and against, so if two of the following happen they are gone-

Broncos win 1+ game .
Sharks win 1+ game.
Panthers win 1+ game.
Knights win 2+ games.
Tigers win 2+ games.
Warriors win all games.

Knights play Wests Tigers and Panthers, Tigers also play Sharks, and Warriors play Sharks.

And of course the Dogs must win their remaining 2 games.

For/against is a shit 1st tie-breaker IMO and really should be way down the pecking order. It was viable in days where teams played each other twice and was easy to calculate in the absence of computer programs. Now we have algorithms that can process all-season data on the spot and give us a more comprehensive way of sorting out a tie-break. Anyone can run up a score against your Titans, Dragons, & Cowboys at the moment. The win is all that should matter.

After comp points for ranking the table, tie-breaks should then be in the following order:
1. Head-to head outcome
2. Strength of wins - i.e., who you won against
3. Strength of fixture
4. For/against
5. Coin toss

You didn't. To be fair, you also did mention that it was a shame they didn't win more games earlier in season. But f**k, if I was a Canterbury fan I'd be f**king pissed that they've started hitting their groove when there really isn't anything to play for apart from contracts. I'd be doubly pissed if they begin next season with 3 or so wins before origin after showing this form late this season.

Perhaps they're benefiting from a small rep contingent and are fresher than other clubs. Or their high performance had them too fatigued early in season. But now they need to step this up into the beginning of next year

Dogs can make the finals but it relies on some very unlikely results such as the Dragons winning a rugby league match.

Reading the thread this morning surprised me. I watched the game last night on recording and didn't at any time feel like hitting fast forward

It was frenetic, hard hitting, physical Rugby League and was a joy to watch

Some of you are Grade A bitchy whingers. You're dead set more Pommy than me

Grats on the win Bulldogs, your attack is absolutely clunky AF but at least you put on for each other in defence. Parra were soft and Brown tried to lift his side but was just a bit too aggressive. The Bulldogs are becoming the side that neutrals like to see win, because we all like an underdog (pun intended).
