That’s a lot of tv time, but we also copped the hardest draw, lucky we are able to keep those two points from the start, we are going to need it.

I just did some analysis on our draw and have summarised it below. Please note this is for all 20 rounds:

Teams we play twice: Storm, Manly, Tigers, Warriors, Cowboys

Top Eight Teams from last year: Raiders, Storm x2, Broncos, Sea Eagles x 2, Eels, Rabbitohs, Sharks, Roosters.
Total: 10 games

Bottom Eight Teams from last year: Panthers, Cowboys x 2, Bulldogs, Tigers x 2, Warriors x 2, Dragons, Titans.
Total: 10 games

Number of FTA games: Tigers (Round 2), Panthers (Round 3), Raiders (Round 4), Broncos (Round 6), Sea Eagles (Round 8), Eels (Round 9), Storm (Round 12), Cowboys (Round 15), Dragons (Round 19).
Total FTA games: 9

Critical period: Over the first 10 weeks we face 6 top 8 teams. From round 11 onwards we face 4 top 8 teams. This doesn't discount the fact that teams like the Panthers, Tigers and Cowboys are stronger this year and will definitely challenge us for wins. So it is of great importance that we hit the ground running and get some wins over the next 8 weeks to hopefully secure a finals spot and ensure we're treated as credible opposition if we do make the finals. The last two rounds are nice, but I don't want us to limp into the finals on the basis of those results.

That'd have to be the most FTA games we've had since Joey was playing
Apart form our positive start to the season I'd have to think that, with the fan base we traditionally get not being able to turn up to the ground, we potentially offer a more attractive TV prospect for the NRL (and 9) in this current environment?

Certainly not complaining on that front...

But I'm not overly happy that between rounds 5 and 6 that the Broncos get a 7 day turn around and we get a 5 day turn around...but at least they are both 'home' games for us and the Broncos have to travel down

Every season throws up a few curve balls. This year is anyone's guess and I wouldnt at all be surprised if there are some really gobsmacking results.

I would have been a lot more confident had Brailey not succumbed to our hooker's curse.
Announcement that we've signed Andrew McCullough from the Bronco's for the rest of the year may give us a servicable hooker for the rest of the season and help settle our spine
