Its not as big a gap as I thought. Broncos are averaging conceding 31.4 points and Souths conceeded 34.0 points. As you say it's probably an unfair comparison because south's reentered that year

Defensively they're on par with the 2002 Northern Eagles which is pretty embarrassing when you consider that side was spending at $1.6m of a $3.25m cap.

It was a 26 round season in 01 though. That's the year where something like 5 teams averaged around 30 points a game I think.
