It's a valid question. Another question that should be asked is...what is it with certain NRL players who go off to another sport and then think they can come back to the NRL and immediately demand top dollar? Are their egos that large that they think clubs should write them a blank cheque and let them play any position they desire despite being out of the game for a year or more? We're talking about the toughest sport on the planet here.
If anything they should be considered tainted goods and should be put back at minimum wage until they prove again they have what it takes to be a marquee player. First it was Hayne, now it's Holmes. The largesse has to stop. The game is bigger than any one player, not the other way around.
