So did Gill.Geez I’m glad Vlandys agreed to tens of millions of $’s in tv reductions!
Remind me which code remained the same or got an increase?

Its hard to make that generalisation. Last week it was reported that an AFL game with a Foxtel audience of 217k had a Kayo/Fox streaming audience of 108k (33%). Too little data.
It doesnt take into account 9Now streaming for NRL matches either.

Yep this season has really exposed the divide between top and bottom. Just a few years ago you’d say anyone could beat anyone but looking at this rounds games..
Broncos/Storm
Warriors/Roosters
Knights/Bulldogs
Titans/Panthers
you already know who’s going to win those games.
With Fox paying much more than FTA that is a large problem for the AFL. Here's hoping Nein lose the FTA League rights instead of extending.neither code has finalised anything with both arms. Nine still hasnt extended for the NRL, and Foxtel hasnt for the AFL.

That is more than likely the reason they haven't extended yet but wanting more and getting more are two different things. With the NRL beating AFL on Fox I imagine Fox for the first time are playing hardball with the AFL.Unless the reason they haven't extended for them yet is the AFL is wanting more

Means nothing without Kayo figures which they don't release and just reflects how crap the Nein coverage really is.https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/nr...-1-million-since-restart-20200725-p55fdn.html
Anyone seen this? Seems weird to compare ratings to be opening weekend after COVID.
And seems to ignore that Melbourne is in Lockdown
That was a good read!found a link to ratings
The overwhelming majority of fans get their NRL fix through the TV. An average round will attract 124,000 in the stands but 3.6 million, thirty times as many, will tune in via subscription (PTV) or free-to-air (FTA) television.
TV ratings are an under-explored and critically important part of the modern game. Ratings should be a, if not the, key factor in judging how clubs are performing and what they bring to the commercial viability of the game. Due to the difficulty and expense of getting ratings data, all we really know is that the Broncos are the game’s biggest drawcard. Everything else is a mystery.
That’s no longer the case. A big thank you goes out to @footyindustryAU of the website Sports Industry, who kindly furnished me with all of the ratings data he has collected by hand over the last three years. He’s worth a follow if you want to know what the other Australian codes are up to without having to actually follow anyone associated with the other codes.

whilst the nrl earns the bulk of its money from tv, the clubs don’t, and if they got off their arses and engaged their fanbases they could earn a shed load more than they will ever get from the tv contract.

They get a $13m grant fromTV and many of the areas like sponsorship wont come without TV. Its fine to say we need to grow crowds etc. but reality tells us that aint going to happen, at least not to any great extend.
And PR before you tell me it works in the AFL, Half there clubs, probaly more are in debt to the AFL and/or banks for millions.
