2020 World Club Challenge – Roosters versus Saints

Messages

The 2020 World Club Challenge is rapidly approaching! It will follow the NRL Nines and be broadcast at 6.45 am on Sunday, 23 February. It will be against our great WCC rival – St Helens. As Roosters supporters, we should not lose sight of the fact that we are on the verge of making history, in that we could become the most successful WCC side to have played this fixture. I for one cannot wait.

It is now less than three weeks to go to the WCC!

I for one can hardly wait. Looking forward to the prospect of being WCC champions once again and the overall most successful side in WCC history. A breathtaking prospect indeed.

I noticed that a Chookpen member is going over to England at around that time. Does anybody know how many supporters are heading over, or if there is anyone they know going to the game?

It should be a cracker. I really want to do it myself one day. It certainly whets the appetite.

Thought that there'd be more interest in the WCC from Easts supporters.
It should be a cracking game.
I'll have to make sure I'm up & early for the game.

Now that we've got all the digital channels, it's a wonder that few networks replay sports games at a more reasonable hour, especially considering that many have trouble showing anything decent during w'end afternoons for instance.

Yes, I would have thought so too, but there is probably more activity on the Chookpen and elsewhere compared to here, I suppose. It is probably similar for the other clubs, to be honest. Anyway, I am trying my best to contribute to these threads when I can and have the time. I appreciate your input Legion. I just hope the game will be on GEM!

Don't forget to give us a heads up on the 22nd just in case. It should be a really good game.
As it's played before our season has even started, the Pommy team has a big advantage. Still, it will give Easts supporters a really good idea how well they've prepared for the coming year & the rest of us to see what we're up against.
As the Premiers the Roosters are the team every side would love to beat.

Off course I'll be barracking for Easts against St Helens.

Will do. Yes, we will be the team to beat, and I like our chances against a fairly ordinary Saints side (at this stage). It will provide a very good litmus test at this early stage of our season, with hopefully the first piece of silverwear to add to our cabinet! Anyway, I for one am really looking forward to it. I even want the Nines to start. Bring on the footy.

I cannot wait. Also cannot wait for the nines to see how our rookie players look. Wouldn't be surprised if we take some non-playing players (injured/reserve grade) players over to England for the experience of the trip like last year

Hahahaha, yes it has Legion! I suppose that, after winning the competition (twice, again), you become even more hungry to keep going. And besides, after such a long, hot, humid and uncomfortable summer (for so many reasons - some obvious, some not), it will be nice just to have the footy back again.

Yes. One, I think, is against the Catalans Dragons and I am not sure about the other. Captain, Babyface and Headless, do either of you know off hand? The WCC is now less than a week away and I am very much looking forward to watching a strong Roosters team for the first time this season. The Nines were a bit disappointing, but obviously McKenzie Baker was the standout player. It was very good to see Verrills and Collins fly straight to the UK after Friday.

Welcome Blue bags. I take it that you are a Newtown supporter? They are a good side, and I still take an interest in them since the days of the Jets being our feeder club. Enjoy LU mate.

Okay, fair enough, thank you Captain. I think they have recently flown into Manchester. Only just under four days to go now! It should be a cracker. I am looking forward to seeing Angus Crichton play in the centres. I am not sure, though, how long he will actually do that.

izzy was too sore from the weekend super league match,to take a 2 hour drive training run with the roosters, . stayed home for massages n rest
Yes, I since read that. Playing against Castleford was apparently like being run over by a bus. Imagine if he played against the Roosters, or against most other NRL teams for that matter. It would have been much worse than that! He has got quite an adjustment ahead of him. League is tougher, more physical and intense than rugby union is or ever was.

He played centre when he played rugby union which is why I believe he was picked there.

i dont know much about st helens saints, but they are ESL champs for a reason, cause they are a very good side , but i think roosters will make history by winning 2 world club championships in a row, 1st team to do that, but at the same time, saints will put up a good show and maybe surprise an upset

Let's hope not Bluebags. I think we will win, but it could be a closer affair than many are suggesting. Rooster boys by eight. It is now less than a day. Coverage starts on GEM, channels 92 or 95, from 6.30 am.
