Pretty horrible crowds overall in Brisbane and the GC for a so-called NRL heartland with no COVID and very limited restrictions. QLDers have been having a go at Sydney crowds for years and now with all the footy have barely bothered to show up.

I guess paying $40-50 to see two teams you don't like much is never a good scenario for getting people off their couches? I thought the regional grounds might have been better populated, not often they get the opportunity and dont suppose there's much competition for leisure time out there.

The nrl and clubs are going to need to get very creative to get people back into the habit of going to games when all this over.

Mate they only went to full capacity last week and masks are still mandated in the stadium at all times. A trip to the footy is not like it was years ago. The Suncorp crowds have been decent IMO, I mean, 6181 at the Raiders Manly 6pm Friday game is not far off a bunnies home crowd pre covid.

Difference between Brisbane drawing shit crowds and Sydney drawing shit crowds are obvious...

- population is much lower in Brisbane
- Sydney's shit crowds are being drawn by Sydney clubs
- Brisbane's shit crowds are being drawn by all but one non-Brisbane club
- it's much more expensive to attend Suncorp than a suburban Sydney ground

Having a go at anywhere getting pissweak crowds in a pandemic - restrictions or not - get in the bin.

Until life is back to some level of normalcy crowds won't be a concern to anyone in NRL land.

Interesting venues for the 1st week of the finals.

No Suncorp.
Strange move. Unless a storm requested Sunshine Coast surely that game would pull 30k @ Suncorp. Two games in Townsville? Surely Suncorp and GC get the two main qualifying finals? Is the NRL not interested in crowds anymore?

You make some valid points. If the NRL really wanted a big crowd they would have schedule the Titans vs Roosters at the Gold Coast. But it wouldn't be fair on the Roosters after all it is meant to be their home final.

Storm on the main channel here this Friday. Shame to go up against an all Vic AFL prelim. Would have got a few hundred K watching here on Sunday arvo.

The suncorp pitch is sooooo cooked. I think we will only see one prelim and the GF there. They might even have the prelims at the GC and Townsville.
