Homebush has the COE field across the road

Get rid of the 45 min grass growing period, immediately allows for 2 games under current arrangements. Cost of the 3rd game should not be a issue if managed correctly as the venue is already booked and you start the day with minimum on the ground venue staff

If wear and tear or wet weather is an issue you use the #2 fields.

They're not going to shunt the lower grade games - especially under COVID times - to #2 fields. Facilities are generally not great (and remember, these aren't the only 3 venues in use across the NRL), security is poor.

This is pipe dream garbage not based in the real world.

Clubs have the draft draw. Its pretty much done.

I don't think you will see it until the NSWRL launch in early March.

The competition will have a name change which will be announced at the launch

I would love to know why it's important. I used to harp on about draws not being available but it's honestly not that critical.

For what it's worth the VFL don't have their fixture out yet either. Happy to forgive most codes for not producing full length draws in full weeks or months before season starts given what COVID has done to scheduling etc.

I've explained it plenty if times - there is a fan base that like to get along to these games. Having the draw can assist in planning to attend said games.

It wouldn't be such an issue if they weren't left for daylight by the QRL, who have far more logistical issues to contend with.

QRL have *more* logisitcal issues to contend with? Care to enlighten me?

- NSWRL have to work a large portion of their games in with NRL matches (QRL generally only have a small handful in comparison).
- QRL games are all in QLD with the exception of Tweed's games at Piggabeen, which is a stone's throw over the border.
- NSWRL has to account for the Thunderbolts in Melbourne for Flegg - which is an even harder proposition now if Victoria's issues don't correct themselves quickly.

As for the rest, I still come back to - as a fan who likes attending games you'll likely be keeping most weekends free in order to attend games anyway. It's nowhere near the big deal you think it is.

AND as I have suggested, look at the Tigers' draw. If they're at home on a Sat or Sun you can almost be certain the Magpies will play before hand, as well as WT Flegg.

Jets make an impressive start to the trials program

The Newtown Jets returned to the rugby league field for the first time in eleven months, when they played Penrith in a Canterbury Cup trial match at St Marys Leagues Stadium on Saturday evening.

Light rain fell throughout much of the game but despite the slippery conditions, this was a good standard rugby league trial match that enabled head coach Greg Matterson to get a good look at his prospective players. This trial was played in two forty-minute halves, with breaks at the twenty-minute mark in each half.

Both teams defended well on their own lines and tries were at a premium. Penrith scored an unconverted try in the 18th minute, but Newtown led 6-4 at the half-time break. Second-rower Bronson Garlick crashed over in the 35th minute and halfback Wyndham Peachey added the extras. Both the Jets and Panthers team management made extensive changes to their playing line-ups at half-time.

Newtown extended their lead when big prop Caleb Uele scored early in the second half and livewire fullback Honeti Tuha landed the conversion.

Penrith forced their way back into the game with a converted try in the 59th minute, but second-rower D’Rhys Miller put the Jets in a strong position when he ran onto a clever short kick and scored under the southern end goal posts, eight minutes out from full-time. Honeti Tuha’s conversion completed the scoring, with Newtown winning this very useful trial match by 18-10.
