If we're fair dinkum, in 2022 Sydney should get one game and Newcastle should get one game.
Qld got the Decider (TM) last year with the state premier ever so conveniently announcing stadiums would be allowed at full capacity as of the night before the game. Qld (as of next week) have had the last 4 Origin games in a row.
So if they want to complain about missing out on a home game next year, tough. If the boot was strapped onto the other foot and NSW (for whatever reason) had hosted the last 4 Origin games in a row, Qld would be making lots of noise about getting reimbursed.
The only thing that could make NSW sweeping this series better is if, after f/t, Gladys appears on the big screen to congratulate the Blues and entire stadium boos. Say whatever you like about the respective state governments and I don't want to drag this thread into 4C territory, but at least the Qld government does all kinds of manoeuvring for the benefit of the Origin team. If Brisbane was in the middle of a lockdown a couple of weeks ago, I could totally believe Anastasia would've found some kind of loophole to allow Suncorp to be 100% full for Origin night before placing SEQ under house arrest 24 hours afterwards. I'm finding it difficult to believe there was no logistical way the game couldn't go ahead in Newcastle with a (COVID-free) passionate local crowd getting to see Origin football live as they do richly deserve, but Gladys and her mob seem insistent on putting the fist down no matter what...
When he quits as NSW coach we should make Freddy the Premier. Shoeless work days and taxpayer funded meditation retreats here we come!
