I read an article saying “England cemented themselves as number 2 nation” but I don’t have a degree in rocket science to work out the standings myself.
I thought the NZ win over Australia would have probably kept them in second just. Although NZ have only won one in their last six so who knows.
I would imagine it will be updated after the final test this weekend.

Rankings are updated usually, on average, 3 times per year. It will get another update before the end of the month, since this last batch of international matches will be over.

Wales vs Ireland is set to be an awesome clash. A WC spot on the line, and two pretty evenly matched teams (though I'd say Wales are slight favourites. I really hope they get a big crowd at Wrexham for this one!

Crowd 1,260
I think that's a decent crowd, considering it's about double what the Crusaders tend to get to a match, and also tickets were £20 for adults. Here is a pic of the main stand.

Anyone know what the crowd was in Carcassonne yesterday?

USA AND CHILE NAME 19-MAN SQUADS FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIER

Hosts USA and Chile, the first South American nation to take part in the Americas Championship, have named 19-man squads for their clash at the University of North Florida Stadium, Jacksonville tomorrow (Tuesday, kick off 7pm).

The match is part of a double-header, with the winners facing Jamaica or Canada who meet beforehand, in a second double-header at the same venue on Saturday; the victors of that game gaining automatic qualification to the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in England.

The USA squad includes nine domestic-based players, as well as two others who have been playing overseas. The Hawks will again be captained by Mark Offerdahl, who skippered the national team during the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the work the players have put in, out on the field,” said USA head coach Sean Rutgerson, who coaches the local Axemen. “We have a great record here in Jacksonville and this is where we qualified last time. All the players have been here and know their way around.

“UNF have great facilities, it’s just like a home ground and we are hoping to get a big crowd behind us.”

Opposite number Rodrigo Millar includes four players from the fledgling Chilean Futbol a 13 domestic competition in his selection.

“We believe that this is the best mix for the future of rugby league in our country,” he commented. “We have done our best to ensure that we are well prepared for this tournament, and will endeavour to produce our best performance to date.”

Millar, whose son Tent is set to play, added: “We know that we have a huge task in matching our much experienced opposition and will be respecting them. However, we will play to the best of our ability and we certainly have everything to gain.”

The matches will be live streamed through various Facebook channels which has given the tournament and players a boost going into it, according to Rugby League International Federation official and tournament director, Danny Kazandjian.

“It is really pleasing that the City of Jacksonville and Toronto Wolfpack have combined to provide additional visibility through a network of online broadcasters,” he said. “North America is a strategically important territory and this innovative approach will further every stakeholders’ interests.

“Furthermore, the RLIF has confirmed a multi-annual investment package into the Americas Championship to increase its status and scope, and in recognition of the growing number of eligible nations.”

USA and Jamaica will meet at the Hodges Stadium, University of North Florida, Jacksonville on Saturday (kick off time 4pm local) to decide the eleventh nation to qualify for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in England.

The hosts are unchanged after defeating Chile 62-0, on Tuesday and Hawks’ head coach Sean Rutgerson is taking nothing for granted.

“It’s never an easy game against Jamaica and this time looks to be even more difficult given their impressive first-up win against Canada,” he said. “Even so, I’m very confident we can get the job done. They’re pretty sharp and we’re going to have to really take it up about another three levels from where we were in our last game to get on top of them.”

Rutgerson added: “It’s going to be a challenge and it should be a real good game. Our guys have got plenty of spirit and the guys are ready to go that final 80 minutes and put the hard work in.”

Opposite number Romeo Monteith, who saw the Reggae Warriors overcome Canada 38-8, added: “It will be a tough game, we’ve got a lot of history between us. Our defence won us the tie against Canada and we will need a similar mind-set to stop a very potent USA attack. Having a game under our belt should hopefully help us in the decider.”

“Our preparation has gone well this week, there’s been a few injury concerns but our physio Ben Harper is working hard to get the boys ready. Obviously it would mean a lot to us to get the win and the boys are in high spirits as we chase history.”

Jamaica skipper, Newcastle Thunder’s Joe Brown, confirmed: “It’s a massive opportunity for us to qualify. We are the underdogs but I’m confident, if we stick to our game plan and process, we will be there. The spirit in camp is really high, we’ve gelled as a group and we hoping this journey will continue to 2021.”

English referee Ben Thaler will be in charge with the fixture going to golden point extra time in the event of a draw. The winners gain automatic qualification, the losers will go into a repechage World Group in 2019.

The second match of a doubleheader, Chile facing Canada in the opener, both games will be live-streamed on the national federation’s and Toronto Wolfpack’s Facebook sites.
