It's getting to that time of year again, we're getting close to the Dally M's! Very close in fact with a new format being announced, we're just four days away!

Dally M Awards to be held over two nights: https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/09/16/dally-m-awards-to-be-held-over-two-nights/

I'm a fan of the new format, will certainly build hype and it stretches it out a bit. Can't wait!

Cody is certainly in the conversation for the top gong.

Teddy, Turbo, Cleary, Walker, DCE to battle it out for Dally M: https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/09/20/dally-m-medal-top-five-contenders-revealed/

That wraps up everything from tonight.

Congrats to AJ on the Ken Irvine medal, a big achievement for one year, let alone two in a row!!

Also congrats to Cody on making it into Dally M contention, well deserved. Still hoping he can win it but I have a feeling that suspension is going to cost him, had forgot about that too. Come on Cody!!! How cool would it be if he won??!

From Sporting News,

Dally M opening night a ratings disaster as NRL event smashed by other sport programs

The new-look NRL Dally M Awards has proved a ratings disaster with night one of the ceremony being viewed less than AFL and rugby league variety programs.

With the event split over two nights, seven days apart, Monday's opening stage of the Dally M awards attracted an average 48,000 viewers on Fox League which ranked below several other shows on the same evening.

Fox Footy's AFL 360 picked up 69,000 viewers on the same night, while On The Couch had 57,000 people watching.

Fox League's NRL 360 had 67,000 viewers in a program that was shown just prior to the Dally M, showing how many people switched off.

The awards ceremony, which was being held for the first time in the two-night format, saw five players nominated for the Dally M Medal, while awards such as try of the year and tackle of the year were also handed out.

Proceedings also came under scrutiny from NRL fans on social media, with many declaring the event format 'awful'.

Last week, NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo explained why the Dally M's were being held in Brisbane with a new-look format.

"The Dally M Awards showcase the exceptional performances of the season and this year we can celebrate the achievements of our players and officials across two events," he said.

"With the entire competition relocated to Queensland in 2021, it was important to think differently for our awards this year.

"We have a new format and the first ever Dally M event in Queensland, ahead of the first ever Grand Final in Brisbane.

"The new format will allow some players and guests in Brisbane to experience the gala evening in person while Fox Sports will ensure a state-of-the art experience for players and officials who have returned home."

Huge congrats to Cody on both these awards, so friggin proud of him. Particularly the 5/8 of the year award, that's a massive achievement.

A bit gutted that Cam missed out on locl of the year, I'd argue that one.

No doubt Trbojevic deserves the Dally M.

What did Turdesco do to deserve the Captain of the Year award?

What a token give me if there ever was one.

That award should have gone to Adam Reynolds who displayed unparalleled leadership in putting his own contract dramas aside, as well as turning the team around from two 50 pt floggings to be Grand Finalists.

THAT is captaincy and leadership.
