I am really happy with the team all we need now is another centre and back rower and we can make it 22

looks like we will be looking at the younger talent to step up

we just don’t have the salary cap space to sign any one on a big deal

Not worried on big deals, but we could poach younger potentials to supplement our own, eg there was a young titans centre that was released this year we could try

Rabbitohs extend contract of Cody Walker until at least the end of 2023: https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2...f-cody-walker-until-at-least-the-end-of-2023/

The most wonderful news to come home to!! Absolutely stoked!!

I think we've all been waiting for this since the Grand Final and the day has finally arrived. Cody has extended so he's here for another two years at least!!!

A massive re-signing as we go into a new era.

Just goes to show you how much he really does love this club, as he said, this is his home. I think I speak for everyone when I say us fans love him just as much.

So friggin happy to finally see this and have it settled.

Even if Reyno stayed for 2022 there was gonna most likely be no place for him come 2023 given our cap so he made the right decision.

The club wanted to start the transition now that’s not Reyno’s fault.

If we offered guaranteed 2 years to Reyno he’d have stayed.

Cody still has the second year to go on his current contract then next year his one year deal starts at age 33 they’re different scenarios.

I get the feeling Cody has been told he has a place with us as long as he’s playing well and once Cook is off the books come 2024 Cody will get a big pay cheque then.

Souths pick up rookie five-eighth
Souths have signed a promising five-eighth from North Queensland who would have played for Italy had this year's World Cup gone ahead.
Jack Campagnolo, 23, hails from Tully in the far north but attracted the Rabbitohs' eyes playing for Wynnum Manly Seagulls in the Queensland Cup this year.
Campagnolo helped Wynnum to the grand final and was named Five-eighth in the Cup's team of the year.
The playmaker has been signed on a train and trial contract but will spend the summer with the first grade squad and good judges at Souths ard confident they are on a winner.
"We're hoping he's a bit of a late bloomer," Rabbitohs Head of Elite Pathways and Player Development, Joe O'Callaghan, told Wide World of Sports.

Saw the GF not a bad player, but i thought we had halves, i wish they would get a couple of intrust centres

Yeah, it does seem a bit strange, maybe Milford is expected to cop a ban from the NRL?
.
I tend to think that if milf was going to cop a ban it would of happened by now,his court case was 2 weeks ago and weve heard nothing,id say hes copped a slap on the wrist and is still on his way to us,plus if all goes well he may only stay a year.
We picked up cody from intrust via melbourne, perhaps this fellow will emulate codys development.
Either way, many here are advocating our juniors, which i agree BUT! You always need to be looking outside the clubs system for talent to supplement the homegrown product.
Whixh is why i would be plundering other clubs fringe players, the entire nrl knows the rabbitohs are a junior nourishing club that gives youngsters Opportunitys so would jump ship for us.

OK, I wasn't aware that Milf had already been to court, can't disagree with anything you said in that post.

NEW SOUTH SYDNEY COACH’S PROMISE TO MARQUEE MAN

South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Jason Demetriou has made a promise to superstar playmaker Cody Walker after he penned a new deal keeping him at the club to 2023.

31-year-old Walker was contracted for the 2022 season, but extended his stay in Redfern on Monday.

After loosing halfback Adam Reynolds to the Broncos, Demetriou promised his five-eighth who produced a whopping 33 try assists last season, that he won’t have to change his game.

“Cody’s role won’t change,” Demetriou toldNine News.

“I know what he brings to the team and it’s my job to put the players in and around him, and keep letting him do what he does.

He has just had a breakout season and it’s not about him reinventing his game – his game is outstanding and one of the most elite in the competition.”

Cody Walker also led the NRL for line-break assists on his way to steering the club to a Grand Final.

“He’s a superstar talent, there’s no doubt about that,” Demetriou said.

“It was evident last year and it has been for the last few years.

“He may be 31 in terms of years, but he has only played about 115 games in the NRL. He was a late starter, I know a bit about that myself being a late starter in the Super League, and you do keep maturing well into your early-30s.

“Cody is still learning about himself off the field as well as on the field, and I still think he has got more in him for sure.”
