was listening to a podcast or show this year, can’t remember which one. They basically mentioned the storm don’t spend much on centre’s, its where they try to save cap space. And they fill the spot with cheapies / players looking for opportunities

Potential they just haven't had a good centre come through since Izzy.
If they did would they spend to keep? The side they have had means they have not had mo ey to go out and buy big names. Just cheapest and what come through their system.

Marata defended the Storm is wet conditions and sharks with barely a backline.

That's true. But it's not as if he hasn't played centre before. He played most of his U20s at the Warriors as a centre. He has obviously put on a bit of weight since then so he's not quite so nimble but his footwork looks ok to me and he at least makes a decision in defence.

His hit and stick is excellent as well, a concept that is completely foreign to Waqa.

I'm happy to be 3 from 3, just like last year. Certainly made a number of handling errors which seemed like a lot more than the game in the wet, but we're playing a bit patient in defence and not panicking. I think the bench has been superb and dont want to sound too bias but I think its the best in the comp. We're lucky Smith was out there when Moses came off and he's been handy in the past 2 games. Arthur has got the right combinations and hope it stays well for the rest of the year.

They let GI go when he was arguably the best centre in the game. Sure it was a while ago now, but when faced with the choice, centre was the position where they made the cut.
