No point having form players in each position when Fittler does that shit. API clearly the best Hooker at the moment and Crichton easily one of the best two Centres available, yet he picks a Mong from Canberra who plays 6 for his club..
WTF is his love affair with Wighton… And what has he done to even warrant selection?

big hit!

The concept of announcing a squad is good. It's a shame that with NRL games next weekend, the Freddy and Billy need to name the 1-18 almost immediately so non-players can go back and prep with their clubs. It would be great if they could keep up the will he/won't he up until Monday next week.

I can’t get my head around it to be honest.
JAC is stilling in the top 10 of all time origin try scorers after just 12 games.

That’s more than enough points on the board in my book.

All justified if NSW go on to win, of course.
Like Game 3 last year with people claiming Freddy blundered not picking Reynolds (a player coming to the back end of his NRL career, let alone his rep football eligibility) as opposed to Moses. It was a dead-rubber of a game with only ultimate bragging rights on the line and IMO the perfect time to give some new players a first hand experience of Origin football.

NSW at their finest, square pegs in round holes. JAC has been below average but is still one of the best finishers in the comp, stick Tupou on the end of an AIDS backline and he wouldn’t score much either. Dropping him is insane, Tupou is a decent winger who has spent his career in some very good teams. Should still have enough, but a really underwhelming side we’ve named.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see wighton move to the bench on game day, Crichton is very limited in where he can fill in, jack suits the utility role better.

Little Mitchy Moses shouldn't have ever worn a rep jersey

Tupou has been picked for a very specific reason, to nullify the aerial threat of Coates and to make the hard yards from the back.

I feel sorry for JAC too as he is certainly a victim of being in a shit team. Having said that he is a finisher which in this day and age is a dime a dozen. He doesn't do that metre eater stuff from his own end like the 4 wingers across the 2 teams picked.

And the best thing about game 1 is that you HAVE to win it. You are not coming back from 1-0. No pressure.

Fair enough, but this horses for courses team selection made Beau Scott an origin centre.

Wow; if JAC is left out that is another blow for the salary cap as a competition leveller. So a team down the bottom of the comp needs to offer an established SOO player at least $100k a year more, because that is the match payments they could miss out on.
Glad you picked you up on this . After all these years nobody on this forum realised lower placed clubs have to pay overs to get good players
