I think you underestimate NRL fans. I guarantee a significant number of Cowboy fans believe they were getting a raw deal from referees.

Most Cows fans I have met are fair enough kind of people, I don't expect they'll be carrying on about that result as if they deserved to win. I don't know if they can actually do it but if there were ever a time where a club insisted the result be changed, this would be it (similar to how in cricket, you can call a batsman back if something untoward happened in his dismissal)

The call itself was a howler, then how they were even able to challenge will take some justification too. If he doesn't make a call (which he didn't) and he blows full-time (which he should have), that's the end of the section

The try was scored with 1:31 left on the clock. That one was the only right call

But it wasn’t awarded till a few seconds later with 1:27 left on the clock. Even if it was at 1:31, the 1 second would have been taken up with the flight of the ball.

100%. They've made rule changes specifically to keep the ball in play for more of the alleged 80 minutes. This seems another obvious one.
