The obstruction rule is no longer black and white.

Reynolds last week, Illias this week. Deliberate tactic by coaches now to take have someone run into the halfback.

Hmm. I guess I’m ok with the way they ruled that in theory, but we’ve seen those pulled back all year. If it wasn’t the Panthers, it wouldn’t have been given.

So while I’m happy with the interpretation, it’s completely inconsistent with the standard set this year.

The gap was created outside of Graham, but it looked like Illias was trying to slide and run behind Graham so he could cover the gap and he was prevented the opportunity from doing so by the block runner.

I think Illias would have had a grab at Edwards if not for the outside shoulder block runner.
