Another 5kg and he'll be devastating. The two fastest guys in the league are 95 and 102kg so that myth of more weight equals less speed is bunk. Can't wait to see him in full flight
disagree, speed is determined by genetics, if you are heavy it slows you down, those guys who are 95kg and 102kg would be much faster at sloanes weight than their own

Genetics certainly plays a role but it's more complex than that. Usain Bolt broke the mould by running 100m world record times at 6'5"- unheard of. Height to strength ratios come into it , stride patterns, coordination- all important.

A fascinating piece of trivia, on the subject of height to weight / stride pattern etc:

"Despite their short legs and chunky furry bodies, northern hairy nosed wombats can run at a speed of about 40km/h over short distances. In comparison, the sprinter Usain Bolt – widely regarded as the fastest person in the world – hits speeds of about 45km/h."

Hairy nosed wombats would probably be great attacking second rowers but I suspect they would require intensive defense training.

Sure, but if your genetics are not right you are not going to be a fast runner...

Yes those are taught, those can make you only so fast - genetics then determines how fast

Over a short distance ... do you have better endurance than a wombat? That is the question.
Also, they lack evasive skills and their ball handling is terrible.
Jesus. Mind blown.

“According to Gary Humble on the Scribbly Gum section of the ABC Science website, a wombat ''can maintain a speed of 40km/h for 150m'', a figure also referenced elsewhere. That would be nine seconds flat for the 100m - astonishing for a marsupial with shabby training habits”
