I give credit where it’s due and I’m critical when it’s warranted. I don’t see how that’s related to the club (or the coach at the very least) viewing Matterson as an Eels junior (as he should be).

Freddy is a Gronk, totally exposed by a first time coach. The halves were shit and totally outplayed by the QLD halves. QLD’s linespeed and scramble were excellent.


Barlow just needed to tuck it under his arm and run hard, RCG was the blues best forward and I thought a Matto was good in limited game time. QLD deserved to win by more.

Wasn't a bad game. On our blokes Paulo was quiet ( apart from his disallowed try ) RCG showed he deserved a spot, Matterson went Ok, good in D, a bit quiet in attack.

On RCG I also thought he looked a bit lost in the opening ten, didn't look for involvement or stick his hand up for a run. I think he'll be better next game after having settled in to the team a bit.

On Paulo I reckon if you're not going to have a game plan where blokes are pushing up with him for an offload or a pass at the line then he's a wasted spot. Those two passes that went to ground were on and there should've been a bloke there to take them. On the obstruction call I reckon Murray was just through the line and Carrigan makes a poor decision, Paulo is already past him by the time Murray is in the way. Still, that's gonna be a 50:50 call so can't complain too much.

Main difference was the kicking game, no real threat from Cleary, no distance on the clearing kicks and I don't reckon I saw a bomb all game that was deep enough, could put that down to Qld's pressure in defence, or Cleary having an off night, probs a bit of both.

But are Penrith in trouble if they are 12 behind in a semi final cleary and luai had nothing once NSW got behind tonight. Not even a bomb or proper chip n chase.

They probably won't be playing the QLD side full of reps. Qld forwards played at higher energy. Bounce of ball went there way.
It was only a last second tackle by Ponga that stopped Yeo leveling it up. I wouldn't be concerned at all.

I thought Jnr and Sims both struggled to keep up with the pace of the game. Jnr was on when we had little ball however. I'd rather start with Martin and Murray and have Jake on the bench.

The Blues went the full Penrith by using the outside backs to cart the ball up. Somebody needed to tell the forward they had to front load their line speed FFS

I think Cook’s done at this level. I’m just not sure if API improves us

Cook has had an ok season without being great. I would have him on par with mahoney's form so far.

Api i suppose combination with Cleary helps but your right cupboard seems bare in dummy half stakes for NSW.

We have a heap of fullbacks but not many number 9s.

Blayke Brailey may be the 3rd option but he isn't near origin level yet. Which shows how skinny it is atm.

Absolutely. Terrible coaching. I wonder which coach's game plan he will copy next game. Ive always been totally unimpressed with Fittler. Ive also always thought Slater will be a goodun. Probably next Storm coach.
