I wonder now if/can the victims sue for damages and stress caused.
Maybe the injuries were just a beat up for a current affair.. the judge did say in his summary that it was fortunate that nobody was injured (words to that effect)I wonder now if/can the victims sue for damages and stress caused.
Well, for a start there was no GBH, the magistrate said the injuries were minor, so no broken hip, no fractured tailbone, probably no bony injury at all. Secondly, he was not charged with being under the influence because he wasn't. He was charged with a presentation offence, that is having a drug present in his system. He used cocaine the day before, the level in his blood sample was less than 0.01 mg/l. Ergo, he was not UIL at the time of the accident (unlike Trindall).I know everyone's talking about the fine and the suspension but to me the issue is the charges. The judge can only lay down punishment for the crimes he was charged with. Why the f**k didn't the cops hit him with a slew of driving offences, Operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, Dangerous operation while affected by an intoxicating substance etc. etc. its on camera for f**ks sake and it look terrible. Politicians complaining about the punsihment need to ask the police some questions.
Yeah, I don't really get this part, all the reporting stated the kid had a broken hip, but reports post-sentencing say minor injuries. Kinda leaning towards media exaggeration, especially given the 'cocktail of drugs' turned out to be 0.01mg/l of cocaine and some low tier pain meds, though I'm not sure if that was a media or a police phrasing.Well, for a start there was no GBH, the magistrate said the injuries were minor, so no broken hip, no fractured tailbone, probably no bony injury at all. I agree with you and Apey. I can't understand why he was not charged with driving without due care and attention as well. Penalty should have been higher if properly charged, but for the charges laid against him the penalty was within range. The reporting had been terrible.
As said above he wasn't under the influence at the time.
However causing a head on crash while not being licenced is worth more than $850. He made a concious decision to get behind the wheel when he wasn't entitled to.
That said it's likely he wasn't covered by insurance for the damage to his vehicle to the other one.
That won't be cheap.
For the Broncos. That said it's likely he wasn't covered by insurance for the damage to his vehicle to the other one.

That’s one hell of a good postWell, for a start there was no GBH, the magistrate said the injuries were minor, so no broken hip, no fractured tailbone, probably no bony injury at all. The cocktail of drugs referred to were panadol and anti-inflammatories, some of which were administered at the hospital.
The penalties imposed were within the range and consistent with a number of other cases, which I can provide you with. But, don't let facts get in the way of the faux outrage being posted here. I expect he will get a heavy fine from the NRL and an 8-12 week suspension (which he deserves).
Ps, the child was not in an age appropriate car seat, and there is some information that she was sitting on mum's lap.
you wont be allowed to boo him.The broncos better start getting their ducks in a row for how they are going to help the fragile little muppet handle being booed every time he touches the ball by opposing fans all season
Nah what they will say is the uber driver was a migrant so if he didn’t migrate he wouldn’t have hit him so it’s the Ubers drivers fault for coming to the countryIt was only panadol and anti-inflammatories, my ass. Believe it if it makes you feel better.
Next you will say its ok because the other driver was an Uber and probably driving on the wrong side of the road.
Get in a car unlicensed and having lost your license more than once, you could have taken only a chubba chump, this is not server enough punishment
