I went to the NRL schools grand final function. Basically said it's their big push to get up the development numbers. Going to be non competitive in primary schools and eventually withdrawing support from our PSSA representative pathway which is a shame. But all the gala days, tag, tackle, 7s etc are all play for fun.

Primary school near me in QLD has AFL clinics, a few kids turn up, have a “skills” session with the AFL commies and they all get afl ball at the end of the session. The next day they’re using those ref balls to play touch/RL on the field

As a primary school kid in Western Sydney in the 90s the AFL would send their Auskick folk out every few years for a school visit. There’d be about half a dozen kids who played (most were from Melbourne or Adelaide) and would take it seriously. The rest would refer to League as real football to wind up the guy teaching us to play who realised pretty quickly he was trying to piss up a rope.

42 million revenue with no lc grant and in a market with so many other teams is nuts

And they were awful last season too

The eventual move to Allianz will see them crack 50 million pa

From the actual report:

"The Football Club’s revenues totalled $42.2m in 2024, and while down on the record revenue of 2023 ($43.2m), this is still the second highest in Club history. Gate receipts declined $800,000 as less games were taken away from Sydney following the taxing travel of season 2023. Merchandise revenue fell $600,000 from 2023 which included some very popular items, most notably the Sattler tribute jersey. Sponsorship recorded its highest ever revenue year."
