2024 Coach of the year

This is 100% true.

The answer is Bellamy, because he's the best coach, and daylight is second. But he probably won't win it. But he should.

To be fair, you can make a case for Ciraldo when the Dogs have only conceded 389 points all year, narrowly second behind the Panthers. That's pretty outstanding. He's done pretty well with a roster that isn't elite.
5 GF's in a row doesn't rate a mention?
Players that have departed Penrith since 2021 and he has maintained the standards.
Burton, Capewell, Naden, Momirovski, May, Jennings, Katoa, Hopgood, Kikau, O’Sullivan, Staines, Koroisau, Cogger, Hosking, Leniu, Salmon & Crichton.

While I'm no Panthers fan, what Cleary has done whilst losing the above players is nothing short of extraordinary. It has to be Cleary with Bellyache a close second.

Yet all played 1st grade or ESL this year.

Considering some of the plodders who've been busts in the NRL and yet have been nigh on superstars when they've gone to the UK, them playing in the ESL is no feat to boast about skill wise for those listed.

I'm certainly in no position to be harsh considering my number of NRL or ESL appearances. Zero

Course it does. I love Ivan. I've rated him incredibly highly since he was at my club in 2006.

All I'm saying is Bellamy was the best coach this year, and the judges agreed. Probably read that I think he's the best coach fullstop, which I don't necessarily. He's 65 and Cleary is 53, and they both have 3 premierships.

Bellamy gets my tick this year because he got to the minor premiership with guys like Faalogo, Meaney, King, Blore, Loiera, MacDonald, Warbrick, Wishart etc who might be journeymen elsewhere (harsh on the last two, I know) but thrive in that system.

But I hope Ivan wins on Sunday and goes ahead of Bellamy on premierships.

Has to be either Cleary or Bellamy both sides stayed at the top all season despite key injuries, Melbourne also had one of the toughest schedules of any team.

For me it has to be Cleary, what he has achieved with this Panthers side doesn’t feel like it should even be possible in the salary cap era. 5 straight GF’s and 3 straight premierships is just mind boggling.

Bellamy is a great coach and I’d argue the best coach of the modern era but it’s hard to go past what this Penrith team is doing.
