I thought this Brisbane game was sold out? Heaps of spare seats unless they roll in late.
Generally speaking people who buy tickets and aren’t in their seats haven’t turned up. This means they are either late or missed their bus. I hope that helps.

20k last week on a Thursday night and coming off a win.
Last week there was no AFL in Melbourne, it was against the Broncos, who are both one of the more popular teams in Melbourne and also were a Grand Finalist last year (Victorian sports fans do know who the top teams are).

Storm has also had a glut of home games to start the season (4 from 6 rounds) and have ANZAC Day fast approaching. Storm are doing alright, 19,715 average after 4 games and ANZAC Day is selling strongly.

Im asking a question hence the question mark.

what makes Friday night less popular than Saturday or Sunday afternoon/evening?

was there a Aussie rules game on at the same time?
Friday 6pm timeslot generally gets lower crowds than Friday 7:30pm games due to most people knocking off work around 5pm. Harder for a lot of fans to get to the game in the bigger cities at that time after work unless they work in the CBD and go straight to the game.

A lot of the Storm’s fans live in Melbourne’s outer western, northern and south-eastern suburbs, so it’s a bit of a mission for some to get into the city at that time.

Therefore 16K against the Bulldogs (not a noted big drawing game in Melbourne) at 6pm is actually pretty impressive.

Melbourne crowd was ok, shows how far we’ve come that we consider 16k at 6pm in afl land just ok!

surprising amount of empty seats at Suncorp for a sell out. Around 49k I’m guessing?
