No its the wrong Sydney teams!

Penrith Manly and Cronulla no matter how successful bring nothing in terms of crowds!

Today being generous at most Manly had 10K supporters (more like half that but lets be nice).. if Dogs played any other Sydney team besides Penrith, Manly or Cronullla it wouldve got 70K.
Perfect argument for reducing Sydney teams.

And despite Manly being a feature today it was still the biggest Week 1 finals crowd of the NRL era.

Its a hard one, it would be chaos around Moore Park Friday but it wouldn't be the first time that a NRL and AFL finals match have clashed at Moore Park on the same day but not sure whether the start times were around the same time for both matches though. The only alternatives if the NRL switch it from Allianz is Commbank or Accor, either way far worse off for any travelling Sharks fans but there is no way it can be played at Shark Park.
What has happened down there in Sydney? We run from GWS at Homebush, now we run from the Swans at Moore Park. FFS the Dolphins are newly promoted to the NRL up here and they don't run from the Lions. Get some balls and take them on.

We sold out in Perth despite a H2H clash, in fact, the AFL moved the game to deliberately f**k us and we still sold out in their heartland but we are scared of the AFL in our biggest market??

I don't think its a case of running scared of the AFL, it's more a case of having a game in a big stadium that won't be filled.

Is it better having 20k in a half empty stadium or 11k at a full shark park.

Congrats to Canterbury and Manly fans yesterday. Over 50,000 is bloody awesome.

As someone alluded to in this thread, Canterbury are a sleeping giant. Imagine if they were a regular top four or top eight team.

Imagine the potential for Canterbury crowds in 2025:
- Home game vs Rabbitohs on Good Friday at Accor Stadium (current record is 51,686 in 2013)
- Home game vs Eels on King's Birthday at Accor Stadium (current record is 45,496 in 2024)
- (Requested) home game vs Dragons at Accor Stadium on a Sunday afternoon in Multicultural Round (get the food trucks in and around the stadium)

Bulldogs are going well and great to see their crowds growing but I’m not sure why king’s birthday weekend isn’t alternating like every other public holiday match is ( bar Anzac Day for Storm which is unfair to NZ)

Because the NRL wants it at Accor... Parramatta don't want to move a home game every 2nd year away from Commbank!

So Parramatta V Bulldogs at the start of the year always will get 25K to a sellout at Commbank...
Bulldogs V Parramatta at Monday (Kings birthday) will always get 30K + even when both teams are struggle or 40K+ when doing well.
