2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup

Would’ve liked to have seen a few new guys in the side. Obviously JGM is the clear shout here but also some players like Matt Short, Spencer Johnson or Xavier Bartlett. Seems like Aus like to hold on to some absolute duds years past their sell by date, which in T20 is ridiculous.

The IPL is the best form guide for the World Cup. Aussies playing well in this year's IPL have been Head, JFM, Cummins and Stoinis. Yes Stoinis has been going well which is a surprise but you can't knock his performances for LSG

The best Aussie performer in last year's IPL was Green. So all of Head, JFM, Cummins, Stoinis and Green should be in the World Cup squad

Spencer Johnson also did a passable job in the IPL this year so include him too

The Aussie players who have been failing in the IPL the last 2 years are Warner and Mitch Marsh. Their team Delhi ran 9th last year and was stuck in 9th before Marsh got sent packing with his "injury". Warner used to be great in the IPL but that was 5+ years ago. Warner and Marsh should not be in the squad. Ellis can't get a game in the IPL and Hobart Hurricanes are a struggling BBL team so he should have missed out too

Agar does not even play for WA anymore so he should obviously not be in any Aussie side

Inglis should be keeper ahead of Wade

they'll bang on about they have a good record and you cant ignore their experience and the usual rhetoric and ignore the fact that current form, particularly in the csae of Wade, is basically shit.

identify the young talent and evolve and we'll move forward,

we really do hang on to our older out of form players for too long and we've been doing it for as long as I can remember

You can look at the 50 over WC win and say there's method in their selections.

But Wade could barely make the Hurricanes team in the Big Slash, how is he even considered?

Agar hasn't played for Australia since 2022 and has been mediocre for years.

And Stoinplod plays 1 decent innings every 100 games.

Agar's 99n.o or whatever it was in the 1989 ashes series has certainly bought him a lot of time. He must be a part of the boys club that runs the Australian team. Warner really is a turd that keeps slithering back up through the s bends onto the floor

Wouldn’t rely on IPL as indicator of best form, otherwise you have India winning the WC more often. The first (and only) one they won IPL didn’t exist

We weren’t expected to do much in the 21 WC, but won it. The bitching of Wade, Marsh was prelevant then but they were huge contributors in the win ✌️

Wade will be back up keeper, maybe play in 1-2 matches. But a more than decent backup. Who is there? McDermott/Philippee , Baxter Holt ? Nugget can go the tonk straight away, opener or down the order. Plus you want that annoying chirp behind the stumps 🐥
He missed Hurricanes games cause of a back injury.
The Angry ant 🐜 is fighting fit and ready to claim another trophy to his cabinet 🏆 Let’s all embrace Nuggets last hoorah in the green and gold like the little champion he is

Stoinis selection is the puzzling one for me. Being able to bowl an over or two maybe got him the edge ??

I have always said its harder getting out of the Australian team then it is getting in.

Once your in the clique your locked in for life.

The Wade trolling really is getting a bit much. Deadset

Any keeper in the country is a better option. FFS the actual Test keeper is sitting at home if you want a backup who has working hands. It's another Diet ODI side of has been blokes that were promising 15 years ago.

An sure the format is a joke but it can be a genuine stepping stone so us treating it as a joke is helping no one

To be honest we are abysmal in T20 cricket. One win in this tournament aside our record is atrocious. I believe our hierarchy lag almost a decade behind the rest of the world in this format tactically. We rely on individual performances to get us through the big games and paper the cracks in our tactical approach.
